About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Echo (NOT Dot! ) 4th Gen @ £54.99 that has been posted before.
However, worth noting Amazon offering 25% off qualifying purchases when trading in. For an Echo (2nd Gen) its offering £25 trade-in and for an Echo Dot (3rd Gen) £5.
E.g. If trading in Echo Dot the Echo would be £54.99 - 25% - £5 = £36.24

Note: doesn't appear to be available when selecting a bundle e.g. with free Philips Hue bulb

Apart from better sound, this speaker also includes Zigbee functionality, which the Dots don’t. Having a Zigbee hub built in means you don’t have to buy a separate Zigbee hub to control things like IKEA blinds (though check reviews; some people have no problems others do).

The other thing this has that the Dots don’t is an internal temperature sensor, so you can check the temperature of the room where your Echo is located.

Thanks Sverre. Just checking the device comparison on Amz and 5th gen dot does look to have a temp sensor. I have an unopened 5th gen so was wondering if it needs to go back

For some reason they won’t give me the credit or discount until they have appraised my echo 2nd gen. Am I doing something wrong?
    Avatar
I received an instant 25% code (automatically applied at checkout) and a £5 gift card which I was charged for. Once the appraisal is complete, I assume another £5 gift card will be applied. Guess the upfront charge covers Amazon for failed appraisals.

Think I might go for one of these, and replace/trade-in an old dot gen 3, so will get 25% + £5 off this. Just submitted my trade-in request, but you have to wait till they receive and appraise the old device before the discounts are applied to account.

It should take the discount off the new item and then apply the gift card balance to your account straight away during the process of trade in towards the new item. Did this start of the month with a new echo dot and I've yet to send the traded in gen 2 dot for appraisal.

How do you do a trade in, I can't find where you can apply
    Avatar
Should be a small grey banner just under the price on the echo product page. The banner says "Save 25% with Trade-in"

    Thanks OP!
Worked for me trading in an old Echo Gen 2.
Instant £25 Amazon Gift voucher applied to my account and then the 25% (£13.75) discount was applied to the new Echo Gen 4 during checkout.
Just got to post the old Echo by early Feb, so no rush. It is a free UPS postage label.

EDIT: also went via TopCashback so will see if that tracks. Thanks to @rich_jtg for that (edited)

Fantastic deal, I've been waiting for this for over a year!

The deal will probably go cold though as many will think this is for a Dot rather than a much more premium product 🙃

    Thank you, voted hot 🔥

This is very good as a speaker, pitty you can’t connect between dot and this…
    Avatar
Why would you want to connect a dot to this?

Seems weird that older generation models have higher trade in
    Avatar
Probably because the microphone actually picks up your voice first time

Thank you, I have just purchased and will trade in Echo 2nd Generation. I'm sure I could have got more for it on eBay if I was willing to hang on till eBay offers reduced FVF.
  12. Avatar
Thanks - traded in an Echo (2nd Gen) and got an instant £25 voucher and £13.75 discount, total cost £16.24.
  13. Avatar
Yeah, theres no instant voucher on my account, and the email says they wont apply it till they receive and appraise the item I send. This deals ends tomorrow, so probably gonna miss out on it.
  14. Avatar
Thanks - just worked perfectly for me upgrading a 3rd gen dot to the full size Echo
  15. Avatar
Ordered, thanks. As I'm currently out of the UK with work, should get the Vat back, so win-win
  16. Avatar
Are they only instantly giving £25 voucher and discount for 2nd gen device trade ins?

The 2nd and 3rd gen dots are getting £5 and I have to send it first.

Picked up an Echo Studio for £119.99 after trading in a Dot
  18. Avatar
    People mentioning £25 voucher… it’s 25% discount, right?
    Avatar
It is a 25% discount (i.e. £13.75) on the Echo Gen 4 price PLUS a voucher for whatever the value is for the device you want to trade in e.g. I got a £25 voucher for a working Echo Gen 2.

Which bulb is this. The 800 or 1100 luminosity and is it the ambiance version thanks

Why is the 4th gen so much more expensive than the 5th?
    Avatar
    There is no 5th gen.

Shame they wrecked amazon music with the last update' I'm not gona buy anymore alexa speakers for music. Just as an assistant is all it's good for now, so a dot enough for me.
    Avatar
I’ve got Spotify set as the default music service on my Echo devices and that works pretty well. May be worth trying that?
  22. Avatar
£16 odd for me to upgrade from 2nd gen Echo to 4th gen with instant trade in discount and 25% offer... Given it a go and hoping it sorts out our Alexa (intermittent playback on Amazon music and radio - doesn't seem to like our mesh network at all).
[I reckon one of the updates killed/kills it cos a hard reset sorts it out but it soon lapses back to start-stop playback and after researching doesn't seem to be any fix for this and lots of others suffering the same fate.] (edited)

Only offering me £5 for my second generation dot ?
    Avatar
Yes, the higher trade in values are for the standard Echo's (not Dot)
  24. Avatar
I have two of these set as a stereo pair. Does a decent job for a kitchen sound system.
  25. Avatar
Have to send my echo first to get discount
