Same; this is a good deal so clues welcome. Also there is functionally no difference between 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen Echo Dots (afaik). So don't be scared to buy thinking you are missing out

“Better-looking, louder and clearer than the previous generation, the Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen) is a vast improvement over its predecessor and it even costs the same. It’s the ideal smart home companion for placing all around your home.”

Im getting the same...coming in at £49.99 + p&p
Poor sound on these. Echo dot 3 is 70% louder and less tinny and still a bargain at £49.
If you follow this link first, it should be come discounted: hivehome.com/off…app
Tested and working.
Needs to be unexpired
Worked for me. Just had another look using the link in the previous post and came up at £25 plus postage
I nearly bought 3 of these a few weeks ago when they were selling on amazon US at 29 dollars but wasn’t sure if they would work in the uk and how much I would get charged import fees. I called amazon to enquire and basically the uk based guy on the phone said to wait until Black Friday. Decided therefore to leave it and buy the 3rd gen but now thinking why he mentioned Black Friday 3 or 4 times to me during the conversation. Does anyone know if the echo’s have come up in previous Black Friday deals.

take a guess
I want to buy two but it won’t let me add them to the basket at the same time. Anyone found a way to add more than one?
This generation (2nd) is still a great product, and it can be powered from a micro-usb connection unlike the new model.
Which makes it ideal if you want to use with a power bank where you have no power sockets or if you have invested in wall sockets with USB outlets (and want to keep the wall socket free for other devices).
The new 3rd generation does look better though and is supposed to be better quality sound. I have my dot plugged into a HiFi so i'm not bothered by the quality of the speaker.
Poor sound but if you're pairing it with a decent Bluetooth speaker or HiFi then who cares? You'll never be using the internal speaker anyway.

How does it cost the same when this is £25 and the 3rd gen is 49.99?
Just ordered however it says you need to have a hive account and app to use their products. .I'm assuming this doesn't include the echo dot?

That's from the Trusted Reviews website. It was probably true at the time of the review.

There's a few key differences...primarily the new on has a 1.6" speaker vs 1.1" speaker making it 69.99% lounder (if you believe that!)...but still good kit for a good price

I'd take the loudness with a pinch of salt, at max loudness they're horrible, but for general use the new speaker does sound a lot better - the full size echo and the gen 2 dot sound completely different, but the gen 3 dot doesn't sound that far behind considering the size and price difference.
20% off lighting (although cross check amazon pricing) and free delivery over £50?
Worked for me, I went for next day delivery and paid £29.99
