this is the one guys

Sadly there's no sign of the deal with the TP-Link smart plug for 9.99 with this purchase. I want another Echo Dot but also want a smart plug too.

On Black Friday I emailed amazon with a link to the DOT3PACK t&c page saying the code didn’t work and they told me to order them and they’ll refund the £25.
Worth a try.

shame they're only doing the Black Dot at £35 on prime now - I need 2 white so I can return 2 to Argos that I purchased yesterday.
Wish they'd reduce the New Echo 2 again as the Dots Just aren't powerfull enought for me.

Have some heat

Still haven’t seen a better deal than the 3 Dots for £85 I got last year.
Surprised they didn’t do that again on Black Friday.
Love the dot, one in the lounge, one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen.
With Amazon music unlimited it’s fantastic.

There was a better deal this time last year, Currys glitch, 2 for £44, didn't last long but I managed to nab 6 if remember correctly.

I haven't heard one but everything I've read suggests that listening to music on the dot is not very good. Are you saying that its fine or are you playing it through a connected device?

Don't know whether to go for a dot or a Home mini.

For the bedroom and kitchen it’s fine for me.
For the lounge it isn’t hugely loud, so I’d recommend attaching it to external speakers.
Saying that, I much prefer the form factor of the Dot to the Echo, it’s just neater.

Apple/Google/Amazon... it's whichever ecosystem you're most invested in, usually.

Not really invested in any of them at the moment. It's mainly for my wife. She has an android phone but, other than that, we don't really have any other "ecosystem" to consider.

It's down to the BF price, 30% off, I don't think Ama$on will discount it more, but maybe offer a code for 3 units.
Any further discount could be a quid or so from Argos, JL, etc.

Bought 3 of these an d Philips Hue.

2 of the Dots have been in the packaging since I got them and are untouched.
Would Amazon accept these for credit or would I be best taking them to CEX?
Also if I did sell, how do I delete my data from them without opening

I think, broadly speaking, Google has the widest support and AI, Amazon has the best niche support (a lot of apps have Echo-specific integration as Amazon have pushed hard for it). Apple... well, you're either with them or against them.

If you have no particular inclination at all I'd probably suggest the small Google one. But that's just my impression, I don't actually have any of them.

Its now showing white for me too on prime now - It wasn't at 1st.

Does anyone know if the one Currys are selling is the 2nd generation???

Theres nothing on their site to suggest it is

Burgmeister14 m ago

I've got Echo (generation 1) in the kitchen and Dot connected to an external speaker in the lounge. The dot is fine if all you want is to talk etc. but for music it won't be any great surprise that such a small device doesn't deliver in any way for audio. This isn't a criticism of the device, it's just to make sure you're setting expectations.

Like an other poster said, the Echo product is good if you have a niche robot hoover or if you want them trying to to make you buy from their Amazon site.

The Google Home is better for everything else, including recognising your voice, giving you information, and pairing with information from your Android/iPhone.

Two friends who own both prefer the Home, most reviews on the internet will tell you the same.

What data? You said they are still in the packaging!

With the dots would I also need am echo for then to work properly?

The other thing worth considering is that the Home mini doesn't have an audio output, so if you go for that then you'd need to couple with a Chromecast Audio if you wanted to output to an external speaker, which means you end up paying practically double. I'd have been tempted by the Home if it wasn't for this.

Gone for the Home mini. Bought it from the Google ebay store for £34. Go via Topcashback today for 10% cashback and a £5 bonus on spend over £30 so, if everything works out OK, then I'll have got it for less than £27.

Great price heat added, picked one up the other week to link to my speaker.

Here we are! I wont bother going to pick my reserved one from argos then!

Anyone know if a Dot would switch on my Denon CEOL receiver (whilst connected to it?). It has airplay, and anything sent via airplay results in the Denon turning on. I also have a Chromecast audio connected to it, but that doesn't switch the Denon on automatically. Any ideas? TIA!

ive been on the fence about getting either a dot or a big boy one. For 35 squid its worth a punt
