  • Ask Alexa to play music, answer questions, read the news, check the weather, set alarms, control compatible smart home devices, and more.
  • Stream songs from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, TuneIn and others through the improved speaker for richer and louder sound.
  • Call almost anyone hands-free including UK mobile and residential numbers (from UK only), other Echo devices, Alexa app and Skype. Link your Vodafone account to make and receive mobile calls. Instantly drop in on other rooms in your home or make an announcement to every room with a compatible Echo device.
  • Alexa is always getting smarter and adding new skills such as tracking fitness, playing games and more.
  • With 4 far-field microphones, Alexa hears you from across the room. And with compatible Echo devices in different rooms, you can fill your whole home with music.
  • You can also connect to your own speakers over Bluetooth or with a 3.5 mm audio cable.
  • Use your voice to turn on lights, adjust thermostats, lock doors, find TV shows, and more with compatible connected devices.

With multi-room music, you can play music on Echo devices in different rooms, available for Amazon Music, TuneIn and Spotify; Bluetooth not supported. Echo can also play audiobooks, radio stations, news briefings and more.
  • New speaker with Dolby processing that fills the room with immersive, 360° omnidirectional audio, and delivers crisp vocals, deep bass, and clear highs at louder volumes.
  • With seven microphones, beam-forming technology and noise cancellation, Echo hears you from any direction-even while music is playing.
  • Just ask Alexa to control your compatible smart lights, switches, TVs, thermostats and more
  • Alexa is always getting smarter and adding new features and skills. Just ask Alexa to request an Uber, order a pizza, get train times, and more.

No not really
We have both types, the sound on the bigger echo is much better for music but the dot is fine for a smaller room. We link them to play music throughout the house :-)

You can start with Echo Dot £24.99 is decent price for this usually this goes down till £29.99
Can you get radio etc through these ?
Can these be used with a Sonos one yet for multiroom?

Yes you can listen radio through services like TuneIn & other music streaming services like Spotify / Amazon Music / Apple Music
That's early. They must be itching to release a new generation

Haven’t heard anything about newer echo dot or echo, this price reduction is price match to current google home offers.
Do you have to have Amazon music, Apple music etc for these or can I bluetooth any music from my iphone or an android handset
How often do they come out with a new one? Every year?
With the increased products in the smart speaker market i am inclined to wait just incase they drop something new to take on the Google Max speaker.

Only if google reduces theirs again, they forced the price down to this at Christmas if they come again amazon will follow.

Yes to all of that

same question - I'm presuming not (otherwise what's Sonos's selling point?)

Yes you can use them as a Bluetooth speaker too. So you can stream your music to them from any Bluetooth enabled device. For such a small speaker the sound quality is great. We have the dot in our bedroom and it is great. The echo in our kitchen really does fill the space well with lovely music. I’m tempted to buy another so it can be paired with the one we already have to make the stereo set up.

Better sound I would say is the selling point. Really need better integration between all these smart speakers.
To get this up and running, do I need an Echo as a primary and then dots scattered around the house or can I just use dots. Appreciate the sound from the larger unit will be better but can I just get away with say three dots? Ultimately I'd like to use this for music and voice controll and maybe add some bulbs and possibly plugs in the future.
Can this be used with the £10 off Amazon thread from the other day?

Well prime day last year they ran echo dot V2 (before v3 came out) plus tp link smart plug for £29.99. That's a much better deal, but until prime day this deal is probably the best we'll get.

Yeah maybe.. got Sonos in 2 rooms, but need to cover another 2-3 and just checking if I'm doing the right thing just buying more of the same...
£25 for the dot is good, unless you can get it for free when you buy something else, like smart lightbulbs.

While the sound quality is not fantastic, the dot is very discrete, has no branding, and the voice control (Alexa) is really useful.

I have one dot in the kitchen and it’s been great. I don’t have a second one because I don’t want to use sockets used for the toaster, coffee machine...

This year they won’t add TP Link plug as Amazon have their own smart plug

I agree. It may stay at £25 on its own, but it will be bundled with other smart home stuff for sure

You can mix and match or just have dots. No dependency on Echo to make the dots work as they are independent

I have 3 of the Sonos Ones so looks like I'll have to keep adding them to the other rooms if these can't be added to multiroom with them. Sucks

Thank you.
Curry’s price match!! Just got mine in store
*Quick question.Does anybody know how to turn off the annoying yellow light for notifications.Everytime I’m due a delivery it flashes yellow. The only way to get rid of it is to say “Alexa play notifications”.I can’t seem to find a way of stopping the yellow light for deliveries?
Thanks Op, just ordered another dot.

No not really....?

Based on what?

I'm not sure there's many other devices for less than £25 delivered to your door that offer music, radio, internet information, games, home integration (plugs, lights etc.) and actually have a rich, quality sound too...

They're fantastic!

I'm afraid not, quite frustrating
Have they been price matched at any other store yet?
