I don’t think there would be further price reduction on Echo Dot ( …I don’t think there would be further price reduction on Echo Dot

£19.99 on Amazon Prime Day, I'm sure of it...

If there are websites undercutting them now, there's every chance it's because they've realised that they need to shift some stock before Amazon wipe them all out on Prime Day.

Even Amazon want to get as much as poss with the £24.99 price at the mo, then boom, slash another £5.00 off, you wait and see!

I'm with you too. Watch thr space
Well that was a shame! I thought I'd try the Alexa app on my Mothers Fire tablet to see if it would be straight forward enough for her to get to grips with before buying one of these - it lasted about half an hour! Seeing as though all Amazon's programs and services are hard-baked in it was a PITA to use Spotify - long commands that didn't always work. If it was a faff for me then it's not going to work for my 70 year old Mother!

I'm thinking about trying it out on an old phone, using the Google commands.

I have Google Home, now I want to buy Amazon Echo Dot, it's nice!

As a speaker this is light years ahead of the mini, and prefer the user interface as well.
Just got currys to price match and bought one for £22 using reward gateway from my employers

You just have to link your Spotify account in the Alexa app then it's as simple as saying "Alexa, play xxxxx"
I don’t know if I should wait For prime day? The 3camels are showing it only ever coming down to this price. £24.99

If you want to hedge your bets, you could purchase from AO next week (Tuesday), assuming the price still the same and stock. If the price does drop further at Amazon on Prime Day you could get a refund of the difference under the 7 day promise promise from AO.

I'm guessing you have to be a prime member to get it at that price?
£24.99 seems cheap enough for me. Guess I'll get another if they drop to £20
Don’t want one, but ordered anyway
£20 on prime day

If they hit £20 I'm going to double up a few of my existing ones and set up as stereo pairs.

They work well like that

Yeah, I wouldn't pay full price for pairs though, so prime day it is
I still don't have a smart speaker, I keep feeling they are too much and when price drops happen its because a new version is out so I keep waiting. I'm not sure why I want one or if it will even work with my tablet.
I have 4 Alexa devices but kinda now thinking of adding a google Home Mini to try and expand my music options.

Bit pissed off when Alexa tells me the song I requested is only available if I sign up to unlimited.

Anyone know if the Goggle home mini is better for music ?
I'm really impressed with the built in speaker in 3rd gen Dot - vast improvement over originals.

Yes, it’s true the speaker (and microphone[s]) are better on the 3rd gen dot than Google mini. However Google’s AI is considerably better than Amazons, which for me is way more important. I’ve used both systems (and Siri) extensively and I find you need to phrase your questions correctly for Alexa to work well. With Google home devices, it’s much happier with a conversational/slightly disjointed approach. The correction algorithms that underpin Google’s online search engine (which give you relevant answers even with obscure/daft entries) are part of Google home’s system. If you spend a couple of weeks with both systems I suspect you’ll end up favouring Google....unless you are a heavy Amazon user.
Gutted just paid last week 49.99 from Argos
