Lol.
I had 10 quid of club card too!
So got it for £24. Very happy. Thank you for posting
Do I need anything else for this to work?? Thinking of a gift #technophobe
Thanks OP, £3 of Tesco points so £31 for me 🏼
Thank you, just purchased one. Had £11 worth of clubcard vouchers too, so only paid £23 for it.
i am a bit confused, the Amazon is selling £34.99 but it indicates ( 2nd gen ). Is this one in Tesco direct also in 2nd Gen? So confusing.
The ultimate in lazy and pointless.

Had one last Xmas...used it for 2 months( basically just for the novelty) and since then it' been gathering dust.

Ideal for lazy people who can' be bothered to get up off the sofa etc..more trouble than they're worth.

Yeah Amazon and Google are in an arms race for market share (get the product into homes). They both could probably go cheaper maybe even give them away!
Finally not the bullet and bought one for the daughter. Paid with my point so only £1.50 cash.

Hope it is the right choice for a 10 year old...

Both 2nd Gen. I'd be surprised if you could pick up a first gen brand new now, but for reference, the newer version is most easily identifiable by the + and - buttons on top.

Have to agree. I know 3 people who have bought one in the last year and none of them bother using it anymore and one reason why I'm not biting yet either.

Thanks for answering, almost order one from Amazon which is 99p more
Thank you, bought last week for £49 phone tesco direct and got £15 refund, thanks op wouldn’t of seen it otherwise.(y)
Good deal. For an extra .99p however I will get mine delivered by Amazon rather than queue at Tesco collection point only to be told it's not in yet (contrary to the texts you get). I'm not saying Amazon brilliant but had this happen twice at Tesco recently. After wasting time trying to collect you get OOS email.. Appreciate if you have clubcard vouchers might be worth the hassle. Thanks for posting in any case as can't argue it's cheaper than Am. (If they have it in stock
I love echos
portable....??

portable....??

Why not read the title of the post?
how is this powered - usb? if so, could i set it up as follows:
- connected to usb port for power in my car glovebox
- connected to internet via my phone's shared wifi hotspot
- output to car audio via my car's bluetooth or usb-audio connections?

can it do things like "read me the wikipedia page on x?"

i have been experimenting with using "ok google" in the car, but it isn't great. in general can i expect more from alexa or is about the same - mainly pushing me to subscription services i dont want?

Yes. But I could only get it working via a mifi device which my phone and dot connects to. I use a three sim which has 24gb on it or something.

Will work with amazon prime music too. If you ask alexa to look something up on wiki she'll read it out.

Agree about saying OK google, just plain daft. Saying 'Alexa' or 'Computer' is much better, plus alexa responds quicker too.

Thanks for the info. Well, i bought one as the deal with the power socket that people think is good seems to be on ( GBP 45 for the pair).

the title of the post says portable which is probably why someone is questioning it, since its not designed to be portable.
Of course there is nothing to stop you moving it around, but it has no battery in it and is best used in one place and left plugged in via its USB port and mains adaptor.

It could be turned into a portable device with a connected battery power bank but thats not included, hence a mis-leading title.

questioning the fact that this is not portable but requires a mains connection...
