Sad toys for the modern housing estates.
Another pleasant valley Sunday
eg. "Alexa....." ;
"play Radio 4"
"play Classic FM"
"sleep timer 30 minutes"
"wake me at 6:30 am"
"wake me in half an hour"
"set an alarm for 6:45 am every weekday"
"what's the time?"
or be rude and just ask "time?"
(You can obviously state any radio station or arbitrary time or time limit.)
If you read other people's comments rather than focusing on writing your own drivel, perhaps you might find out.
You probably live in a house, sleep in a bed and drive a car? Why bother, why not just live in a forest, sleep on the floor and walk wherever you need to go.
You could apply that silly statement to anything in life.
That's what I get for rushing! Thanks!
Edit.. I wanted 3, husband only wanted 2. Winner!!!

Watched star trek?
Ever wanted to say 'computer play jazz music' computer turn on observatory, computer turn on Aircon, computer set room to x degrees, computer turn on vacuum, computer what is XXX, computer order a playstation etc etc
Well now you can.
Can do shopping lists, calender events, order take away, taxis. If it can be turned on/off via a plug, ir or WiFi remote, you can use it with Alexa.
One for the bedroom, one for the kitchen and then maybe one elsewhere or I'll give to my parents as a pressie.
Although a Bluetooth speaker is preferable for the dot, it seems good enough sound for the bedroom/small kitchen as is.
I have the full size in the bedroom (well, everything is full size in the bedroom), but joking apart, The dot really needs an external amp/soundbar I.M.H.O. whereas the full size speaker needs neither
So I have a full size in the bedroom (to save space and get good sound) but I have a dot in the kitchen (connect to a soundbar via blue tooth) and another dot in the front room connected to my 30 year old Sony Amp which gives impeccable sound via Bluetooth)
If you are a prime user, you can build up a library of Albums to listen to totally free plus play any Albums you have bought from Amazon.
Timers/Alarm/radio stations are other decent reasons to buy
What is the top up deal?

I use frequently for setting timers/alarms, listening to radio, listening to music (and ocean waves to help me sleep) and listening to Audible audio books. I think they are fantastic. Sound on their own isn't great, mine are plugged in to various speakers.
In addition to what others have said, mine control my Netatmo heating, Hue lights in specific rooms/zones/house etc.. and also updates me on my flight details (easyJet commuter) and soon, my Sonos as well (beta testing starts soon I believe).
Do a Google search on "Alexa Skills" and see, it's very impressive and judging by what they get in the USA, only going to get better.
I haven't done the maths but gotta be around £25 a pop.
and if the US intercom feature makes it here, you will be able to call one 'engine room' and talk to Scotty
I dooona have tha credit limit.
