This seems more useful than the dot or am I missing something?

Most likely inferior sound quality

I'd say the opposite; plug points aren't always in the exact place you'd want a Dot. Depends on your specific needs, I suppose.

It’s essentially an Echo Dot in terms of what it can do, right down to an AUX-in port’s presence, except it plugs straight into a wall. This makes it far more flexible in terms of placement around a home, giving you plenty of options on how you want to access Amazon’s assistant in each room.

Where it sets itself truly apart from the other Amazon Echo devices in the range is an onboard USB port, situated on the lower side of the Flex. It’s a 7.5 watt USB 2.0 port, which will be useful for charging devices without losing a power port on your wall.

I can also see the Echo Flex being a great fit for spaces that you don’t want to have an Echo Dot on table or shelf but you still want voice control. I could see the Echo Flex having good uses in dining rooms, bathrooms and hallways or other rooms where you want to discreetly place an Alexa Device
There are reviews on youtube, audio quality is extremely poor and mic struggles to pick-up conversations. What makes the flex interesting is USB attachment for motion sensor, night light etc.

so it's a dot with worse speaker, but plugs into the mains, so that's potentially better for some as no cable and USB socket needed? but it can also have other bits plugged in. so useful in the kitchen where i have no usb sockets, and saves using an adaptor

more than likely a feature we'll see on a future generation dot.
Pricey considering the dots comes up really cheap regularly, picked up a few of them when they were £7.99 a few weeks back

This is not a Dot. While the plug in function may suit most, also no wires, this is not a replacement for a speaker. It is good to have it only if you want to control smart devices and convenient as no wires, if you want it for music, forget about it.

I think the £7.99 price is irrelevant, these may come for £5 in the future, you never know. But I agree, I rather pay £22 current price for a Dot instead of £20 for this. Unless I do not want wires and need it only for controlling smart devices.

I think Amazon is actually a front for aliens from a far, distant planet called Alexa. Once their devices are ensconced in every home, they will send out a signal that will instantly turn half of humanity into Amazon warehouse robot workers. The other half of humanity will be compelled to buy, buy, buy from Amazon, once a week, for the rest of their lives.
