I didn't even think Amazon dispatched their own products globally, but this one is coming up at £101 delivered, which is £40 cheaper than the UK pricing...

White version here, and the black one is available here. I've had a little search around and found instructions in this video on how to change the Alexa language...

You may also need a global adaptor for the plug

Apart from the speaker, what's the benefit of this over a smartphone?

When you say "Alexa ask for a fart" she farts so loudly the house shudders, what smartphone can do that?

Wow, heat added

Does the home hub act as a wifi router??

Thats unusual, You cant usually buy Echo's from other Amazon sites . I know that the previous echo was only available in UK and Germany though I use my UK version in France it wont recognise the location for weather etc .

I'm sure there will be more issues like this if buying one preset for another country

I did have a look at that and there seems to be a page on Amazon that helps with changing the devices location. This should surely resolve that?

Change Your Alexa Device Location
Alexa uses the address saved for your device(s) in the Alexa app for the weather, time, local searches, and other features.

That doesnt work for me, I think its because the Echo isnt available in France but hopefully that shouldnt be an issue with this for you in the UK due to it being available in the UK aswell.

Does the home hub act as a wifi router??

AFAIK it just acts as a hub for your smart devices (eg. Hue bulbs etc.) and not as a WiFi router for your normal devices (eg. phone, iPad etc.) to connect to the internet

The standard Echo 2 is also available cheaper from Amazon Spain.

The reviews regarding the poor SQ compared to Gen 1 have put me right off 'upgrading'. I can see a decent market for 2nd hand Gen 2s, TBH...

Heat added for price got terrible reviews hopefully it chances after a update

I have read in comments on Amazon that the latest firmware upgrade has fixed some problems and the criticized poor sound quality.

The cheaper new Echo has the poor sound quality reviews. The Echo Plus sound quality generally seems to be reviewed as slightly better than the original.

Having said this there is nothing in the new Echo Plus that even remotely tempts me to update.

Is this one bundled with the Hue bulb?

For the doubters, there's definitely a bit more bass on the 2nd gen plus version, and to my cloth ears SQ is just as good.

Its perfectly decent if you just want some music playing in whatever room it's in,and better than my 1st gen. And obviously has the smart hub too if you haven't already got one.

I stopped breaking the law on a regular basis quite a few years ago, around the same time I stopped getting new SIM cards for my work mobile on a monthly basis, so Alexa can listen as much as she wants not going to get my collar felt for anything we say.

erm, not what I was getting at at all - it's just very icky in general to me - but then that is the society that social media has helped mould us into - no privacy, may as well open your front door wide and let any random into your personal space.

I don’t do Facebook mate, that filthy xxxx Zuckerberg makes terror cell top boys look nice people as far as I’m concerned and let’s not go down the what’s app and Viber conspiracies but they probably true so he or his pals have still got me one way or the other but it is what it is.

Our front door is never locked during the daytime funnily enough but we live on a nice estate with ex old bill and serving RAF surrounding us so I think we’re pretty sound

Snap. Love my original Echos, and wouldnt change them.

This does not come with philips hue something something. So not exactly £40 savings.

Makes me smile when I hear people saying it’s for lazy people or they can’t see the use......are these the same people with tv remote controls, smart phones and cars :@)

Does anyone know if the Hub in this is fully compatible with all the Hue Apps our there? Also does it have more memory than the actual Hue Hub? Sick of running out of rules and not willing to add a second hub.
