Nice find. Now, do I need one...
Better than an Echo dot or speaker. Love mine. Use mine as an alarm clock & for music at nightime
Description says 15W, Amazon say 4W. Bit of a dud for sound if true.

Heat for price.
Not going to buy but going through the process of reservation there is a momentary flash of a glitch message on screen

Had bought an outdoor camera but the amount of cables n thickness would have been ridiculous drilling!
Hi, sorry not at the moment, but Amazon have had them on offer quite often I bought three of them on different occasions.if you want a really small compact speak it's not a bad deal, but the difference in sound and screen is massive.the echo 5 is very small unit.
Show 5 is a bit small. The 8 is class. We use ours constantly.
Fab . Was waiting for this to come down to the £50 mark for my 9 year old

Yes you just say Alexa show me "whatever you call the camera"
Would be good to see the Echo Show 8 back at £59 as it was in Dec/Jan. So nearly got one - had one on order but stock was out for a week so cancelled.

I paid £59.99 for my show 8s. The 5 was tiny imo so sent that back and paid the extra tenner. Well worth it.
Got this free when I bought a Ring Floodlight cam on Amazon Black Friday offers.
I can see whats going on at my doorbell, Floodlight or stickup cam (Ring), adjust my heating (Tado Thermostat and TRVs) and turn off my lights (Kasa sockets)
Don't know if i'd actually pay for it as i've got an Echo Dot too and I more often use my phone to check the video feeds.

Me too. Now fancy one in the office for when working from home.
I work from home often. Plenty of conference calls. Anyone tried using one of these for a conference call? If so, is it practical?
I got this for free when I test drove a car a few months back. I wouldn’t buy it for its rrp, or £50 if I’m honest. Anyway, the new one which has a bigger screen is out, maybe worth checking that one out instead

I can link my vodafone mobile contract to my Amazon devices, works quite well for calls.
Don't see why you couldn't use it for conferences.

Have the 8 and compared to the dots this is horrendous for sound - have to shout over TV to be heard by device, slightly leggy and not great for sound output - advantage has a screen to use as a photo frame with Amazon photo app and if using alexa compatible CCTV can view feeds - pita to setup with monocle so recommend alexa designed CCTV cameras
Purchased 4 from Argos to replace our Echos around the house. Collected and Very pleased with them. CCTV viewing facecalls etc.

thanks
Can show have a live calendar display?
I bought a Google Nest Hub for £50 at Christmas for a nightstand alarm clock. For some weird reason you can't ask it to set a radio alarm - play a particular station instead of the alarm sound. So I bought one of these Amazon Echo Show 5 which was also £50 at the time, thinking that would be much better and operated the two side by side for a week. BUT....
The Amazon one understood hardly anything - I seemed to have to be very verbose for it to do things I asked, which were usually pretty simple, whereas the Google one seemed to understand pretty much anything I said. The display was not nearly as sharp, and it didn't dim beautifully to a clock face in the dark, like the Google did. In short, the Google one did everything I wanted really, really well except set a radio alarm, which I worked around by setting a 'routine'. The Amazon one I just found really clunky to use as an alarm clock, the display is poor, the touch is a bit weird and doesn't respond well. connecting it to my Nest heating was more tricky and controlling the temperature was just fiddly. Asking directions and traffic on the Nest shows them on the screen can send them to the phone, I couldn't see a way of the Amazon one doing that - it just tells you how long it might take. Also, even though the Echo has a slider to cover it I didn't feel comfortable having a camera pointing at my bed. Setting up the photo frame is a much easier experience on the Nest - you just point it at a folder on Google photos. The Echo required setting up accounts and a load more more fiddling to get it to show my photos. The amazon one seemed to be mainly geared towards making you buy stuff.
I sent the Amazon one back in the end and kept the Google Nest Hub, which I found massively nicer to look at, easier to set up, works exactly as I want a nightstand alarm to work and easier to use.
The sound was better on the Amazon device but that doesn't bother me since I don't really listen to music on it, only Radio 4 to wake up to. You may have different priorities to mine but for my needs I found this device to be far inferior to the Google equivalent.

Damn... I bought this at full price just over a month ago and have just missed the returns window!
