I’ve got Sonos with Alexa built in about the house, would this be of any benefit to me? I don’t use Alexa for calling but quite like the idea of the display

Apart from the fact you can watch music videos, facebook, the news, & films or anything else on an Echo Show.
Could it link up to my networked pc and access and play films/music that are on there?

Ps the sound & display is much bet on the max ,but obviously the price is considerably higher. The echo 8 is amazing value at this price as long as you don't want to view your own Media on it,most of these displays want to keep you using their services in there ecosystems.

You can watch Amazon Prime video direct on the show without having to do anything, just ask it to play something and it will do so.

Does anyone use one of these with a live view cam ?

Thinking about replacing my Dot with one and would like to add in a baby monitor are there any cameras that work in this way with this and will give me live view?

Many thanks.

Hmm - seems like it is limited to a viewing time of 30 mins then have to request it again with no way round this, that would drive me crackers!

Unless someone can advise different ?

Cheers
does this automatically show ring doorbell when pressed?

Is it not always this price?
merb078617/04/2020 14:41

No, usually it's £79.99

Oh wow. I just remember checking Amazon a few weeks ago and it was £59.99

Yes it does, recent update to Alexa app introduced that (long overdue) feature. I have it working on my Show5 and other folks I know have it working on their Show8’s.

You have to ask it to see ‘Name of Doorbell’ and then press the microphone symbol to speak to them.

Cheers for this, it has helped rule out the xt2 as I was looking at this for a potential camera - I need to have a permanent view for when the baby is asleep in the other room and having to ask to show the camera again every thirty minutes will annoy me was to much lol.

Will have to see what else I can find, unless anyone has any ideas ?
Does anybody know if you can install third party apps on this?

If you get 2 shows, you can drop in on the other one on the same network, but you'd have to set up the baby room show pointing the camera to the baby, or get one of the cameras that amazon sells with the shows which link and are easier to adjust the angle. You then mute the viewers side so that you see and hear the baby side all the time when in drop in mode. Hope this helps.
You can also drop in on your phone/tablet Alexa app if you don't want 2 shows
Neos SmartCam is the one that works with Alexa
Thanks OP. I ordered one from Amazon though on the basis if it goes wrong so much easier to send back. Although the main reason was the wife told me to!!
These really aren't even worth this amount, even at a bargain. The speaker is awful and it's pretty inaccurate most of the time.
