Alexa

The Amazon Echo Show introduces a new way to take control of your home and music using your voice. It makes life easier by taking care of life's daily tasks.

Echo Show combines Alexa voice control with video for the first time. Just call out Alexa's name, and ask it to play videos from Amazon, and more.

Browse how-to videos, and cooking clips whenever you need a reminder in the kitchen. Watch quick news updates, view song lyrics, or use the Echo Show as a baby monitor when combined with other compatible products.

Activate any Alexa-compatible devices

Echo Show is compatible with an ever-growing list of smart home connected devices, from baby monitors to automated door locks, smart light bulbs, music players, and more. Ask Alexa to lock the doors while you're tucked in bed, dim the lights, or play music from your Spotify playlists, using your voice. Just say “Alexa”, followed by the command to do what you want it to.

If you've got several Echo devices around your home, you can play music from them simultaneously, for a multi-room audio experience.

Hands-free video calling and messaging

Echo Show
makes video calling easier. Makes handsfree calls to friends and family who have an Echo Show, or the Alexa app on their smartphone. A Drop In feature lets you quickly check in on someone, and send them a quick message if they're available. You can choose to be available for Drop Ins or not, and decline Drop Ins if you wish.

Powerful Dolby audio speakers

Powerful speakers powered by Dolby, deliver room-filling sound. The Echo Show is fine-tuned to deliver crisp vocals with good bass. If you've got an Amazon Music account, you can enjoy millions of songs, complete with on-screen song lyrics, and album art.

Download new Alexa Skills

The list of things Echo Show can do is growing all the time. Do more by downloading new Skills from Amazon. Order a takeaway from Domino's Pizza, turn your lights on and off, get weather and travel updates, and get new recipe ideas just by saying Alexa's name.

I know its not a better deal than amazon (its the same) but it just an alternative vendor for people to choose if they wish.

Plus get 1% cashback with topcashback
i know this is a better deal and very good, but i still can't see the use without youtube. i think thats what amazon was banking on.
Tbh without YouTube is a deal breaker for me
I can understand that, no youtube is a big thing for a few people, i cant use youtube with the dot so its not a biggie for me. The calendar and other things are the benefits over the dot for us.

it was amazon, they had a code to get a further £100 off when buying two. The code for that has expired now.
Hmm.. I wonder if Amazon are starting to struggle with shifting these now that YouTube has been pulled from it. If that is the case, it looks like it's their fault anyway for behaving like spoilt brats to begin with.

its been pulled and was put back on before, this is nothing new.

Both are behaving like idiots to be honest and I don't think either are losing or gaining much from the whole debacle other than 'bad publicity is good publicity'.

Even if Amazon are struggling to shift them, i doubt they will lose much sleep over it.just means more discounts for us lot.
Think Argos is same price if closer for anyone ..
why anyone would "prefer" currys over Amazon is beyond me, one of the worst companies out there for customer "care"

its probably brinkmanship, two massive companies seeing who can push each other the hardest, come January it will probably be sorted and back on, just like Sky and Discovery a while back. Google want access to Amazon to allow them to sell more of their devices and throw their devices out of the pram as Amazon doesn't want to and you can see why. For Amazon its just the loss of a single app, for Google though its not only the device sales but the loss of advertising revenue from losing the app on the amazon devices. I would bet that Google will lose this one and that's not something you see very often.
If YouTube is not on this, why not just get the normal echo? Unless you are desperate to watch Jeremy Clarkson on this
Why would I want to watch videos on a minuscule screen, I don’t get the appeal?

It's apparently the best sounding Echo, I'm just taking the screen as a bonus (ordered 2 for £160 on the earlier deal).

I agree with you. Originally it was the native app that was pulled because it violated Google's T&C in the way it was developed. They then just stuck the web version on to get around the problem rather than fixing it.

Both should just play nice but it was Amazon that started this nonsense.

YouTube on echo show had adverts blocked by amazon. Another reason why Google were upset as they were not getting any revenue.
Currys are the worst retailer I have ever dealt with, their after sales service is absolutely shocking.

How did you get 2 for £160?

How did you get 2 for £160?

It was less than £160 actually.
Amazon had a deal running for a few weeks offering £100 off if buying 2 X Echo Show devices.
Then they were reduced to £129.99 early this morning and the £100 off code still worked so quite a few got two for £159.98.
In fact some bought multiple sets
Got me one of these. Couldn’t resist at this price.
Apparently in the UK you can't connect your amazon echo show to your fire tv. I've got 2 fire tvs I wanted to link it to but can't and after phoning amazon they confirmed I can't connect it. This is a big let down for me as it's listed as a feature.

Besides you getting spied on, the use I can see for it is to have it in the kitchen to bring up recipies and cooking videos. But without YouTube they took away a lot of appeal.
Amazon announced they're selling Google home again since pulling them off in 2015. Hopefully YouTube will be back soon
Very is also 129.99
Does anyone know if someone video calls you on the Alexa Show do they also need an Alexa Show?
Or can video calls be made to the Show using Mobile phone?

You can use the amazon echo show and call a mobile phone aslong as you have the Amazon Alexa app installed on the mobile. It works great.
I'm actually finding this quite useless for my needs without YouTube on there... Tested a few trailers when I got it, am not gonna watch whole shows or films on here but YouTube would have been handy.

Here's hoping YouTube comes soon.
while we wait for amazon and google to agree to bring youtube on echo show devices. here is a hack to watch youtube and some other streaming websites
