What?
I've bought various Echo devices and placed them in every room, even the hallway, in the hope that I'll never have to physically interact with another member of my family in a different room again.
Reserved two spots online and collected this afternoon. When I asked about the £40 off for buying two they checked the website and then gave me the discount. Paid £159.99 for two!

What?
Showed as £99 on its own on argos main website, just reserved a black one.
Equally confused, not sure what this means, if you add both the Echo show and spot it comes to £100? What glorious magic is this ?!?

I think the person might have meant that the price drops to £99 per item at checkout?? May be site was updating at that time ??
I hope Google follow suit 🤞
This is going to be my very expensive alarm clock

Anyone actually got this yet?

I've got £40 of Argos vouchers and I'm still unsure whether to take the plunge!
Wish they did this spot without the camera so it would be cheaper!
Echo Spot is literally an alarm clock? Why wouldnt you just use your Dot?
Im never going to sell my spot on ebay at this rate

You got 2 for 99? Can we see a screenshot? The offer of "buy 2, save £40" doesnt seem to be working either
Can these be used like a clock radio? What's the speaker like?
Good deal, but as its Argos id always be wary as the commonly re-sell items at full price that have had the below done to them: Box opened and shown to a customer, returned item re-boxed and sold as new, demo item re-boxed and sold as new

When I bought the two Echo Show's for £160 a while back they were brand new and sealed...with items like this there are always tamper seals so you will know its a brand new product.....

why would you care if its been shown to a customer?

Id say there is a very high chance of that at there next conference
OK, this confuses me. On the argos site for me it shows each colour, on its own is now discounted to £99.You can buy 1 or more at £99 each or the offer on until 1st April is to save £40 if you buy 2. If I try following that £40 offer it still adds both at £99 each.
Argos crazyness offer once again. Website team need sacking.

If im paying full price i would expect a sealed box item, otherwise its a demo model and should be discounted

Bizarre , if it has not been used I would not care, let alone expect a discount because someone looked at it before you. I can understand actual used items, returns and demo, but looked at?

If you look at the site, when they were £120 each, adding two would make them £100 each with that offer, I just don't think they've updated their site, particularly as they got burnt big time when they left the deal running on the Echo show and everyone picked up two for £159

again, not sure where you are getting your info from, I highly doubt Argos would have much in the way of goods to resell on lines like this...but if you have any proof I'm happy to be corrected
I purchased two Amazon Show for £159 for two from Amazon few months back but cancelled order as I have the Amazon echo and the dots on all the other rooms. I so regret cancelling the order. this is the best deal I’ve seen since then.

Thats your personal choice, for me i wouldnt. Not sure id trust the word of a salesperson either if they said "Dont worry, it was only shown to a customer, we never had it on show as a demo model". I bought a Coffee Machine from Argos once at full price, said it was brand new yet inside the caraffee you could see coffee residue

If buying online your probably ok, the issues tend to happen more when buying from the retail stores where they get lots of returns and have lower stock quantities when items are on special.

Would agree but can buy only one for £99 anyway, so not being forced to buy 2 to get them down to work out at £99 each. It shows firstly as £99 each, or you can save £40 by buying a pair, obviously that should then be £159.98 for the pair but showing as £199.98.

again, ALL Echo products ( any many others nowadays) come in boxes with tamper proof stickers labels so you could see instantly if they have been opened before.

Whilst you may have had a bad experience with your coffee machine (which is a shocker, but maybe the buyer brought it back and said they hadn't used it and for some reason the member of staff didn't check it) then I can understand why they might put it back into stock. That said I'm sure it not standard practice for them to sell open box stock as new and again in the case of products like this it WON'T be the case and certainly not standard practice.
Having a camera on the spot is a no go. I so want the spot as an alarm clock replacement but having a camera in my bedroom just doesn’t sound right. Yes I could put tape over it but still don’t like that at all.

haha yeah probably. I can just envisage the outrage over someone else having dared look at my product. IS NOTHING SACRED?

Ya, my local Argos sells lots of returned goods. I rarely shop at Argos now due to this and if I must buy something from there, I will check that it hasn't been used before leaving the store.

But is this not illegal? Are they not breaking any laws by selling opened or returned stuff under the guise of new items?
Now the price has dropped, i am interested in an Echo Show for the kitchen but not until the amazon/google dispute is settled and i can access Youtube recipes and whatever on it. Little point in having it otherwise. Two monopolies slugging it out for dominance with customers caught in the cross fire, i hope it's not a sign of things to come.
