Anyone wanting a filler to gain free postage from Amazon will not go far wrong with this superb CD.
Quote from Amazon : Debut album from American-born singer songwriter Madeleine Peyroux. This release features a collection of covers, including Bessie Smith's 'Reckless Blues' and three songs which Peyroux penned herself. With her soulful voice it is easy to see why early comparisons with Billie Holiday have been made. The cover of Edith Piaf's 'La Vie En Rose' is also included.
1. Walkin' After Midnight
2. Hey Sweet Man
3. I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter
4. Getting Some Fun Out Of Life
5. La Vie En Rose
6. Always A Use
7. Prayer
8. Muddy Water
9. Was I
10. Dreamland
11. Reckless Blues
12. Lovesick Blues

Worth £4.97 of anyone's money and I for one can't get enough of this ladies work.

Is this really a Hot Deal?

Seems to be the cheapest price for the album, so it could be considered a deal, depending upon your taste in music of course;-)

Sounds like an advertisement by a record company shill.

Nope !
Just someone who appreciates good music and thought it might help people to get to the minimum for free postage on Amazon.

Music is of course a personal thing but then so are films, computers, plasma TV's etc etc.

I don't see many music deals on here so I thought it might make a change. Apologies if it wasn't the right thing to post.

If you want a filler for free postage, don't buy any crap CDs you don't need, but better get some blank DVD+/DVD- media you can use anytime!
Example: Verbatim 4.7GB DVD+R 16x 25 Pack Spindle for £8.98 (best recording media on the market), or any other (cheaper) media!

£8.98 for a "filler" seems a bit excessive to me!

Thanks for the post hottoshop by the way and the feedback guys ;-)

You get what you pay for! ;-)
But, if £8.98 is too much for you, how about getting
10 pk TDK Recordable DVD-R media for £3.69:

Not really:

Delivery: £3.24 inc vat
Total: £9.05 inc vat

Here's another, even cheaper filler:

Sony 10 x DVD-R 4.7 GB 16x media (spindle) for only £3.21:

Its not too much for me, but is too much to be considered a "filler" item in my opinion. By normal definition a "filler" is an item you order to take you over the threshold for free delivery, I wouldn't be spending £9 just to get free delivery.

As a "filler" it is still more expensive than the postage itself - therefore if I am ONLY ordering item to receive free postage, I'd be better off paying the postage. If you are ordering the item because you need them its not a "filler" in my eyes. I hardly ever use DVD media so they are all a waste to me, I'd be better off ordering the music CD to sample something different as the OP was suggesting!

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but if you're looking for a filler item to get free postage on amazon then the following site can be useful - just remember to check for something in stock though or it might take a while for your item to get delivered.

LOL. Thanks Currychops, she has an exceptional voice doesn't she.

I have extremely broad shoulders so it doesn't worry me. This is the third "hot deal" I have tried and they have all sunk without trace so I might have to face up to not being too good at it. :giggle:

What I couldn't understand though was folks wanting to turn it into a blank media thread ? It was supposed to be a cheap price for a music cd that people could use as a filler on Amazon. Nothing more, nothing less.

Anyway back to the drawing board, take care..............

I really like edith piaf and that kind of french music.....I'm a novice though and know nothing of this artist you recommend....if she sings and sounds as in the same style as edith then i'm willing to buy...can anyone confirm?..thanks

Sindy if you click on the "go to deal" on the first page and go through to Amazon then scroll down to the track listing and you will see that you can click on the tracks to listen to a snippet from each track.
Whilst not being the best quality heard like that it will give you an idea.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't think !
Well it wouldn't be right for me to hype it up so I'll let someone else tell you their opinion.

In case you were thinking she sings mostly in French this is not the case. You might recognise one of her songs "Walkin' after midnight" from a tv advert. (Hope I got that right lol)

As an aside did you ever listen to any Francoise Hardy stuff ? An icon from the 60's I loved her stuff.

No I haven't...Taking note of these names so hopefully can sample some when I get new speakers...I never knew what to look for so maybe this is a good step...thanks alot

This will help you, just click on the names, will keep you going for years lol.

en.wikipedia.org/wik…ers

just to add..she's French Canadian and was discovered busking in Paris...another artist you should hear is Karen Dalton (the album of her recordings "It's So Hard To Tell Who's Going To Love You The Best" was released last year) who was on the Greenwich Village scene in the early days of Bob Dylan...again very Billie Holliday influenced but soooo good.

Original Poster

Thanks currychops, I haven't heard of Karen Dalton, will give her a listen.

Were you saying Peyroux is French Canadian because I had always gone by this information ?
en.wikipedia.org/wik…oux

Those that can (sorry Sindy) might like to go here youtube.com/wat…p3A
for a taster.

(Now I do sound like some record advertising agent. Who's gonna pay me though ?)

I stand corrected hottoshop..must have been misinformed somewhere along the line...have to say I never check the facts so am often misled....anyway it's the sound that matters and it's excellent..Karen Dalton sadly died in 1993.

Thanks guys for this...maybe I should plug in my I-Cat so I can have a taster later lol.
