It's gonna get hot in here. why buy a cheap import when you get this with all that Amazon no nonsense back up.
Great find Chaos86!
what are they like for kids? I have had 2 so called kids tablets and they are awful.
I got 1 last time around for my 18mo old. Mrs wouldn't let me give it too him so I use it and actually quite like the Fire OS experience. Flick between this and my old Ipad mini2 without caring about the lower screen resolution. Kodi runs OK on it too.

Already pay for Prime but also pay 1.99/mo for kids unlimited content. The locked down kids profiles are quite impressive too if you want to control what they can access and how long they use it for.

I'm not sure what the FireOS is like but it runs Cyanogenmod 12.1 pretty well, see forum.xda-developers.com/ama…ent.

Agree with this, the £1.99 a month for unlimited kids content is a bargain, just make sure you put a decent sized SD card in or you will be forever deleting stuff

We got the "kids edition" for the kids at Christmas. The tablet is the same as this but it comes with a 2 year warranty (including accidental damage), a foamy case and 1 year access to Amazon kids unlimited which gives them loads of apps, videos and books to use. If your kids are 10 or under I'd look out for a deal on that, they dropped to £69 on Black Friday. Although I'd certainly get this with kids unlimited.

interested to know this myself
had the first version for my nephew (shared with his grandad). They both use it daily and love it.

Good tablet!
Ordered another one for a wall controller, thanks. Screen res could be better but for the money its amazing, and they run CM12.1 fantastically, better than my Samsung Tab 4 7" which doesn't run it at all!

You can install Android apps quite easily by installing a 3rd party google play store.
Or you can install .apks directly.

You do not need to root it, or install vanilla Android.

I think it's brilliant for the price.

As a prime customer I like the instant access to prime content. I also like the freedom of standard Android apps.
Best of both worlds for a great price.
I got one of these around 5 Months ago for my kids to use. this tablet runs great using you tube and most of the apps amazon has to offer.
I have a 2,3 and 4 year old and I don't have no protective case or screen on the tablet. my kids have thrown this form pillow to post and it barely has a mark on it!

Took a punt for my 5 year old as having to send his Galaxy Tab3 back. Should be ok for what he uses it for and will just order a case off ebay.
Do these have a built in mic, can you use Google store?
What are these like for reading pdfs?
Could this code be used to get a 10.00 discount at the check out? If I signed up for the 30 day prime and used the app?

Thanks for confirming. Have credited you in description.
Is this an older generation/version than the latest? 171 ppi seems lower than most reviews I've read.

As far as I'm aware it's the newest 2015 model.
Grab this tablet. Worth Every penny. Budget tablet for sure. But takes 5 mins to make it run normal android. Cyanogen or slim LP.

Makes this a best of a cheap tablet. Cannot be beaten for the price
Is this for the ad-free version? It still shows at 49.99 on my Prime Now app.
