It's a good price but I'd steer clear as we had these and 8gb is not enough storage. The os takes up a fairly hefty chunk and the option to transfer files to an SD card is very limited. I found myself having to constantly delete things due to lack of storage and it really restricted its usability. Shame as it's a decent piece of kit otherwise.
Sideload the google play store and hunker down the security and it's perfect for kids.

Eg

Saturday morning 5:30 am : Hello Daddy
Daddy: here have the tablet.

It's just ideal for streaming films/music internet browsing, won't be downloading lots of apps..plus u can put all ur media on the SD card which can take up to 256gb...what else can you get for £23 😄

A bargain at this price. Not worth its usual £40
So maybe it's a new Fire 7 to be announced by Amazon.

Edit - I got it wrong, the Fire 7 had a 2019 revamp already. Apart from more storage the all new 2019 Fire 7 is just as bad.

Sideload google play store and download Sky Q. Saves money on the extra box in the bedroom
Can use it as a remote control for the TV/YouTube etc.
You're right Rick X not much storage.

Absolutely, and well worth it if you plan to use it like this but if you were thinking of giving it to a child e.g. to play some apps you'd manage about 10 before it was full.

Well said. This is one of the reasons why I did not get it. Apart from this, I also do not like the idea to have it linked to my account while in my son's hands, plus 'restricted' to access to Google play store, so not many choices in terms of apps/games. I know there is a way round it, but too much hassle. Shame, as the price is very good!

Voted hot for the price, sadly not the right product for my 6 years old.
The screens are absolutely crap on these and the hd8. The resolution is poor and i find myself squinting at the screen. 1080p minimum needed for comfortable use. The old Hudl 2 is far superior to this. Wish one of the big retailers did a cheapo quality tablet again.

I installed an android launcher too after a bit of messing about. Got rid of the nasty Amazon GUI.
I picked one up in the Bridgend store a week.last Sunday. Its ideal for the little one to watch YouTube and such.
Might sound daft but does it take a sim so lil one can watch youtube while in car

It doesn’t. But you could get a WiFi usb stick for car. Then connect this to WiFi. It would be easier to just watch offline content, but if you wanted to stream this is the kind of thing you’d need...

Google Play Store isn't much hassle, takes 10 minutes to download everything and you can just create a throwaway Google and Amazon account.

Thank you. But is there a cheaper dongle available?
Like many others, I have the ghost video problem. Storage in settings says there are 147 videos using over 3GB of memory (with only 8GB in total) but no video loaded on to tablet, so keep getting low memory message. Have tried everything. Google search shows many people with same problem but no answers to resolve the issue.

quite breath taking how executives make these 8GB short-shelf life tools available to the world, when 32GB is just a few dollars more to make
Has anyone actually found this deal in other tesco stores? It wasn't in my local store

I’ve used this one and it’s good. But yes, you can get cheaper. I just never got them to work properly in my car. Would need turning on extra. This one just turns on with ignition.
