IMO standard Kindle is far better. Faster, less strain on the eyes, longer battery life, no blue light/sleep interference at nights, and less distractions from other apps. But that's only if she reads mostly novels or non-fiction books -- if she's reading a lot of graphic novels/comics or textbooks with diagrams and colours and linked pages then the tablet may be slightly better because of the stronger support for images, colours, and web access, but it will still be a bit poor compared to a more powerful tablet.
definitely get a standard kindle, much better reading experience
Spotify is in the terms - Currys also have a ton of codes, customer service has even stated this (There was a little confusion at first i agree)
Thanks
True, what i meant was don't expect to get a code - you won't. You have to wait 2 weeks then contact customer service who will then take at least another week to reply

You get FREE Fire for Kids with the Kids version of the tablet but this can be purchased for around £1.99 a month for some great content, films, shows, books, games etc
I bought the kids version and they watch YouTube on theirs
I bought hubby the 10 version he was happy till he realised he couldn’t play his football game on it due to having no android App Store on it. I had to play around with it to solve the problem .. he’s now a very happy bunny!
Ideal.
That's about all my kids use it for - games can be hit and miss.
Thanks for that. Going to a birthday party for a 7 year old, so thinking to get this...
My 2 under 10 kids have 7" fire tablets from a couple of years ago, they use the fire kids on it which costs me a pound or two a month.
But the tablets are sooooo slow, even moving all the apps to an SD card doesn't help much at all.
Not wanting to spend a fortune but want something that is much faster (they only play a few kids games on it- shouldn't slow down this much!)
I haven't bothered looking for alternatives - anyone care to share their findings?
This is EXACTLY my experience!
No need. Just keep her busy
You're absolutely right.
I work for VT onboard, the beam app is not on the amazon kindle store to download and it would be a pain to load up via web app. I would suggest an android based tablet that has access to google play store as a better option for accessing Beam onboard.
Thanks very much!
My son has this and it’s a lot better than the fire tablet he had before

The 10 inch version on the other hand is actual value, and actually a nice experience.
They all will. But it is only an advert on the lock screen. Nothing more.
It really, really is.
Very true. I thought a saving grace may be battery life but even that is pretty terrible ! I have just got the HD fire 10 (new gen) in the sale for £94 and it's excellent
Me too. I bought mines on Argos eBay for a tad over £90 c&c.
I have a Kindle Paperwhite and a Kobo Clara HD. The Kobo wins hands down for me as an eReader. It's light, it's fast and has a great screen. I love the Pocket integration and it has built in Overdrive. Kindle is great if you buy into the Amazom eco-system and there are some cracking deals with Kindle.
