Ive just ordered one as these are supposed to be very good tablets i like watching tv shows and films so because of the HD it will be good to use the 8 in looks about right not too small and not toò big

Heat added
I got one of these at Christmas for my daughter and successfully added the Google play store to it!
Was able to install proper YouTube and kids you tube apps.
Great tablet.

Yeah I saw that, but I don't need/want two. No pleasing some people I guess.
took one of these off my missus after getting her the bigger one.... over a year old and the battery still lasts for days on standby. also there's no real marked improvement on the 8'' hd screen, 7" still good quality... 34 quid is for nothing
Really need to know if anyone uses one of these with things like the Lloyds banking app. Trying to find a replacement tablet for my mum.
Don’t need one but brought one anyway
How do u get Google play store on it please?! Bought one at Christmas and it's been useless ever since! Please help. Xxx

Would love to know if anyone can check with the side-loaded Play Store. The app recently got updated and it locked out certain tablets. Don't want to commit to buying one if it isn't going to work.

Hi there is "Buy 2 Fire HD 7, 8 Kids Edition tablets and save". So if you are from Swansea we can buy and share

I've got the 8" Amazon Fire Tablet with Play Store. The "Lloyds Bank Mobile Banking" app is offered, but on selection I'm told "Your device isn't compatible with this version". Hope that helps.
Does anyone know if Fire tablets purchased from Tesco are the versions with or without on-screen special offer advertising?

I saw that earlier too and was thinking about it for a few hours. Logged back in I was just about to order thinking it was the 8 hd. Just scrolled down and found this comment so can verify this.
The same Tablets come with 2 year warranty at John Lewis.
Beware the sound on this tablet is rubbish and I' m still trying to find headphones to work with it

Buy a high end screen protector and case no need to even worry about a warranty. Amazon devices are always well built anyway.
Plus JL have had a lot of delivery issues lately anyway.
Have 2 fire tablets from Amazon and if you ask nice and play dumb, Amazon will disable the adverts for free

Really appreciate you checking that; saved me wasting money on an HD8. Wonder if the 10 is any better. Thanks again

On Amazon, without any advertising is £10 more. I presume Tesco is the same. However, if you phone CS and complain about the occasional casino adds that pop up being inappropriate for your kids, they will remove the adds. Takes a bit of effort, but worth it!!

Great tip. Thanks!
You can get the adverts
removed by paying £10 to amazon. I got it removed couple of days back
I bought 3 at Christmas one each for myself and my wife both 32gb and I bought my Mother a 16gb and we all think they're great. I installed the Play Store in all three tablets and most stuff runs well in it.

If you ask Amazon to remove the ads 9 times out of 10 they will remove them free of charge.

I haven't owned a kids so can't compare but the kids OS seems spot on, 1000s of videos, books etc for whatever age range you specify, and it's locked down.

Its the same other than if they break it Amazon will replace it for free. Our kids got non kid versions dropped many times and still not broke.
we use only one profile(kids name) for both tablets so only pay 1.99 instead of 4.99:D

Don’t know if it’s related to just our two tablets ( a 7 and 10) but if using a sdcard after a month or so it seems to kill the sdcard. Managed to get sandisk to replace them for free but really I know it’s the tablets what broke them.

Amazon support for the kids profile is very poor and so is trying to sort things out as there is basically not settings or options to play with using an adult profile.

Main thing is that it keeps the little kids happy for cheap.

Still prefer the iPad for my general use.
First post so be gentle!..
I found a cheaper way to buy a fire tablet. Fire HD 8 for roughly £36
Very.com sell the 7 8 and 10 HDs and kids fire for the same price. They always want you to open a credit account. Currently i see £30 off when spending £60. Hduk link here for the latest
hotukdeals.com/vou….uk
I already had an accout but they always send money off incentives to spend more.

If you buy the fire HD 8 £59.99, add on ANY item to go over £60 to get £30. Note that they also sell cases and SD cards for the tablets which you'll buy anyway.

Down side. They do run credit checks so this may not be for everyone.
There is also a delivery charge which is either 3.99 for standard or 4.99 for nominated day delivery. I think it forces you to pay 4.99 though.

Plus side. Can take advantage of buy now pay later if available and Take 3 options to spread to cost interest free. Read up on t&CS to avoid interest.

Hope this helps you deal lovers.

Now personal preference get the 8 not the 7. Looks similar but the 8 had better battery, better screen (slightly) and faster.
I can also confirm these come with ads but an email complaining that the ads are not appropriate for kids and Amazon customer service can remove them free of charge.
I had bought one for my Mum Last year and I thought it was great......It charges really fast......
