Amazon tablets are the worst!

At this price it is worth considering, it is still very very slow compared to the HD10.
32GB version for £74.99 or you can pop a MicroSD in. Just bought this for my little one's Xmas pressie. They are great tablets - lots of bang for the buck spec wise, you can sideload Google Play which helps lesson the "Amazon" spam aspect of these. A much safer bet than a no-name Chinese import. Yes, it's not an iPad, but then again it's almost a quarter of the price.
Bought two fire 8HD about 2 years ago for under £30 each from an Amazon warehouse offer and both get used every day and have worked brilliantly. Put a different launcher on them to bypass the terrible inbuilt launcher and they have been great.

"it is still very very slow compared to the HD10."

That's debatable, hehehehe, as I have both, and personally speaking, for what I use mine for, they're more than fine, so generally speaking, I really don't care ...

You tend to forget too, the HD10 may be league's ahead of it's HD8 counterpart, yeh?.

But the HD10's price more-or-less reflects similar to that too, etc? - being arguably twice as expensive as well, or whatever? (not to say that the price difference between the two, is worth it in comparison to their comparative size ratio's or whatever? (nope!), because they are. :-D

Because, obviously size difference between the two aside, the HD10 has a 0.5GB of additional RAM over the HD10 (cool).

Plus the HD's start off with a minimum of 32GB internal storage space, whereas the HD8 (as per the OP's above Deal, etc), starts off at only 16GB instead, right?.

So before you can say "Jack" even, you're ALREADY at double 'in', on the internal storage space/capacity anyway?.

Which is perhaps not just reflective (maybe), on what Amazon originally had for the HD8 in the first place, etc?, but it's also perhaps reflective of the capabilities that Amazon originally had in mind for it to begin with too (or whatever?).

It's almost like comparing an Amazon ECHO, with the Amazon ECHO For, and expecting the exact same from both of them?.

Despite their obvious price structure being different, their physical + internal structures will (again) obviously reflect all that also, etc ...

(It's not a true like for like comparitive, fine, lol - but you catch my drift). :-)

Need to find a replacement for my daughter who's using a fire 7 but don't wanna get one again so slow. Rather pay the extra on a deal for a Xiaomi mi pad 4 if there is one.

Still quite expensive, you never thought of an older iPad?
Don't mind an iPad if the price is right. And it's a model that still gets updates. Working in ict puts me off non updating ipads

I really don't know much about ipads as you can imagine tbh. I have one, gets frequent updates, but I'm unsure on the older lot.
Yea depends how old the model is think atm it's air 2 and above models which. Still get updates.

Get an Amazon HD10 then?.

It's marginally faster than the Amazon HD8.

They BOTH get constant updates, despite how long I've had them.

HD8 for coming up to 2 Year's, and HD10 for coming up to @ Year now -; and more are continuously coming.

'Older' iPad's may not necessarily promise you the same thing? (beyond a certain window of Year's that is?).

So worth baring all that in mind too, perhaps?. :-)

Benchmarks.ul.com shows an average of 300% difference. Fine for some!
Think it's this price on Amazon too

Not that keen on the fire tabs after trying this fire 7 which has I guess tainted my experience.
Is the 8 and 10 full of advertising like the 7 is?

At this price from Amazon definitely with special offers, it's a tenner more without, it doesn't specify on the Currys website so maybe not.

You're correct about the whole special offers thing, lol.

But here:

"it doesn't specify on the Currys website so maybe not."

I believe it still does ...

As you mentioned earlier (as per the price thing, etc etc?), it's cheap enough, so I doubt it'll still come forth without?, hehehehe (but I could be wrong - so who really knows?). :-D

Fair enough, but to be fair to the other Amazon Fire HD 'variants', plentyyyyy on here (this Year, last Year, the Year before even?, lol), have b!tched about the HD7.

But RARELY have as many b!tched in the same way about either the HD8, and/or the HD10, etc?.

There may be a plausible reason for that? (or not?, lol), depending on how one interpets it, etc ...

But fair play to your comment nonetheless. :-)

Looooooool, I hear, I hear, fair enough, and all that. :-D

But like I also said initially:

"and personally speaking, for what I use mine for, they're more than fine".

I mainly use mine for movie watching + light browsing, etc - how much 'horse power' would a device 'X' require at all? - just to perform such basic features? (that even a phone Android 5.0 on it could do?, it'd struggle, yes, but it'd still blatantly work for those thing's same way - and I'm not talking hypertheticals either, as I've been doing such on phone's even before Android 5). :-D

So it's literally a horse's for course's 'moment', basically?. :-)

But to be honest, you do however raise a very valid point same way. :-D

I'll look more into the other models. The one thing I do like with the fire is the child account and it only seeing the apps I approve. Not tried to do that with standard android

It matters little if you are a light user, or even if you play light on memory resources.
these are slower than a week in the Bar-L
