With a few movie and Tv apk file's installed these are awesome
Edited by: "Toon_army" 7th Feb
Very likely firestick will be £29.95 later today with same code
They should update the blurb as there is no longer any official youtube support.
Is this much better than a firestick? Reason I ask is because my firestick is becoming extremely laggy therefore I'm looking for an android alternative that I can run apk on that won't break that bank. I wasn't sure if this was much more powerful?
Sorry for the question but I have a Sony smart android TV...what will this item allow me to do which I can not get from the Amazon prime app built in the TV? Grateful for any help

Yes mate, its much more slicker... to the point where my old firestick is a chore to use compared to this
I have a Eurosport subscription, the eurosport player app is free to download on Amazon. But to use it on a fire tv or firestick I need to pay the £80 prime service on top. Ridiculous. something needs to be sorted.
Been waiting for this to drop for ages after having the fire stick and hating the lag.

Thanks and have some heat.

Get a £30 or cheaper Chromecast, use a free smart phone app and get a £30 or cheaper Eurosport player subscription direct from Eurosport not need for Amazon and cheaper at £60 or less for the first year and £30 or less ongoing.

Amazon requires Prime at £79 and Eurosport at £4.95 per month so £173 or more for the first year including Fire TV HD stick and other Prime benefits.

Re laggy firestick, mine is too but is the first generation. Was hoping that the latest fire stick is much better?
I have the latest firestick and it is not laggy at all! It's pretty slick.

I quite agree, but it would be nice to be able to do everything I currently use on my amazon device for free that I already have, than to add a chromecast to the back off my TV as well. But at the moment this looks my best option.

p.s. would it work if cast from an iPAD to a chromecast for the Eurosport player?

Yes I have had both.

The slightly older generation Firestick was laggy for me, but got the newer model (one with the Alexia remote) and that's fine.

Loading YouTube via the Firefox browser on the Fire TV launches the YouTube APK which seems to work as has always. It's not an ideal work around, it's just something I encountered when trying last week

No HDR on that version. Has Ethernet which can be an advantage.

Replaced my 1st gen stick with this and it's superb. 2gb ram makes so much difference. Better processor too. Very fast loading up . I have kodi, perfect player and terrarium all running. Excellent imo

1st gen stick can't cope with the current OS. I have one on my TV in the kitchen, however it's almost unusable because of the lag.

completely agree, updates have slowed the gen1 stick down loads, but the latter releases of ttv apks are painfull too (used to cope loads better)...still, have a few on the go, but they do struggle. The 4k fire tv is bang on really. well worth £55
What is the main differences between this and the early Firestick? I have had mine for 2 years and it has never skipped a beat.
Shame they dont accept my bank card visa electron 🙈

The majority of people buying these is not to watch amazon tv on them because if you have a 4k tv, you prob have amazon tv built into the tv or downloadable through app store, these are for installing apk's that most tv's cant install but on a good note, i have a sony bravia android tv and you shouldnt need any external device to watch anything on your tv, all you need is file explorer or an app similar, share apk's to lets say your dropbox, then launch them within file explorer/dropbox on your tv to install them. it really depends on what type of content or apps you want to use.
I have a sony tv with android built in but choose to use a fire stick for downloading apk as don't want them to slow the tv os down

£29.95 now
This or something like this: banggood.com/MEC…=CN

??

I don't really have a need for the 'dodgey stuff' (I have a zgemma on virmin). What it will primarily be used for is to stream 4k content (.mkv or .m2ts) from various netgear/synology NAS's into a 4k atmos 7.2 amp & then to the tv. Thoughts?

how are these compared to the old fire tv boxes, i have one of them and need another for room. I have my other one linked up to a ethernet cable via a poerline adapter in the plug and its super fast. router is ina different room so the stick can be laggy

I've done this on mine to install now tv and show box but the remote wont move around the app ??
Amazon have the firestick for £29.99 and I'd normally buy from them as I've had good experience with them replacing/refunding when things go wrong. However, I had a load of tesco clubcards points gathering dust so I used them and got it for £0.00 - fingers x'd nothing goes wrong with it.
**** me !!! tesco just reduced the price of the firestick by £5 so I just wasted a fivers worth of vouchers - happy one minute pissed the next - f u tesco.
It's now £24.95 with code TDX-HRYJ.

Depending what phone you use you can get a remote app to navigate around the screen or on amazon for £5-10 you can get a remote with track pad that to connect to the tv is just a tiny usb.
