So...people quibbling over a fiver, and waiting 3 months. I don't get it. Voted hot from me, as it's cheaper than it was yesterday!

Wait until Prime day. It will be £30.
Definitely a deal for anyone urgently needing a stick. They have been much cheaper but without a Delorean installed with a flux capacitor, the past is irrelevant.

Is this the cheapest it has been? As i can wait for it to drop furthur

I got in for 29.99 in April.

Yes 29.99
Not a good price - these should be £29.99 before being considered a deal.
You can also get this on Amazon interest free over 5 months.

Or £35... prime day is pretty much confirmed to be on September now, so on the basis that it may be £35, is it worth an extra £5 to get it now? For me, no.

me too at end of March for £29.99. Got 2, daughter got 2 and her friend got 2 also, just in case the price went up. We all love it. Kodi is so much better on this too. Get a VPN and you can watch files/TV programs in other countries too. Nice

What add-ons did you use for Kodi? i have tried repo but been unsuccessful :-(
Can anyone tell me i would like to put kodi on this and link to my nas is it possible too download covers or not and if not what would you recommend
It varies and not used it recently I'm afraid. Try googling 'best Kodi repos 2020 and you will get links to the best ones. It's how I did it. It's sort of hit and miss, some will work others won't. What worked for me one time, didn't the next. Really sorry if this is not helpful enough, it's just that due to no sports during lockdown I've sort of given it a miss for now so not sure what is working or not. What I used was Exodus, Covenant, Kodi Bae and Sport 360
Was £30 at the end of March.
True but the fact this deal is so cool (sub-200 degrees at the moment) suggests most people are waiting for a further price drop
Apart from 4k content, is there any other major difference with the cheaper stick which is currently selling for £19.99?

It's much, much faster when you're going through the menus etc. The non-4k one is almost unusably slow in my experience.
I’m buying for my son’s room, he doesn’t have a 4K TV so does it make much difference?

Yes. Much faster. Also the cheapest it has been is £24.99 with an additional tenner off if sign up to audible =£14.99!!!! But was last year and again, a deal is based on current prices only. So hot.... but could be better... who knows. Also search k0di alternatives

i am in 2 minds about getting this or just waiting for 4k version to drop after seeing this video
youtube.com/wat…q9M

2nd gen is now £20 and 4k version is £40 so double the price, but after watching the video its clear although 2nd gen is half the price on the offer today, its processing speed is about less than half perhaps about a third to a quarter? so you are much better off getting the 4k which also future proofs you in case you do get a 4k tv

im not sure exactly how it works but i think PLEX does what your looking for which can be installed on this, KODI is more for things you dont have on your NAS and are streamed so there would be no point downloading the covers for them. Plex gets the covers and descriptions and all the other info about the movie all automatically and arranges them all into a nice library for the ones on your NAS and any other collections, and lets you view and share your collections to anyone and allows you to view anywhere in the world. It can also be hooked up so that it records any TV programs you want or any series and it will save them like a PVR and also let you see them wherever and whenever, but i only have a basic knowledge of PLEX as i dont have it myself, there will be others here better able to answer than me.

K0di will do exactly what you are wanting as linking to external sources and drives is what its core purpose is and has been since it's early days of XBMC..... ie it is/was a media centre. I used to use it to link to my pc and show my photos and play my music. Since streaming took over, the basic functions of the program have been forgotten to most.

Also it is free, unlike Plex

This is the best stick you can buy even at the full price as it supports all current formats
Are you able to get freesat or live tv on this?
Mine arrived today. Set it up no problem. It replaces a five year old, first generation Fire Box & already it feels like a definite improvement. The Mandalorian on Disney+ looks superb in proper 4K. Justified on Amazon Prime is an order of magnitude better than it was before. Even the wife says bog standard All4 looks sharper.

One tiny niggle is that YouTube (which you have to download separately to the stick) still won't play this 4K demonstrator file in full 4K without constant pausing/buffering (although 1440p isn't a problem). It suggests the Fire Stick CPU/GPU isn't perhaps quite as powerful as Amazon says it is...

Can anyone who owns this confirm whether or not the Apple app has 4k content?

I had read that at launch it didn’t (presumably to encourage people too buy a new gen Apple TV box) but that an update had been promised. So far my Googling hasn’t turned up anything definitive as to the current situation.

Thanks!
