It's flawless in my opinion. And I've tried every device going for running xbmc. I sold my minix x8-h and replaced it with this and couldn't be happier.

Great device, use mine to run XBMC sideloaded. Ignore the first comment, it really has no basis in reality.

Put XBMC on it and watch every live tv show in hd around the world for free and all the latest movies voted hot better than wasting £50+ monthly on $kyHD

^^^ agreed guys. Also runs plex really well too... Well built. Small. Has a great remote. Prime content is crap on any device. Doesn't take anything away from this great tv box.

dont you have to root to load xbmc?

no you dont vithya but and I apologise for jumping on the thread...how do you watch bbc1 hd for example change_me? All I seem to be able to get is poor quality streams. Could you advise please.

Its runs XBMC well BUT it doesn't output in 24p so is useless (IMO) for movies / TV shows with that frame-rate (99% of content). Cant put up with judder of 3:2 pulldown. It's an android limitation.

Just remembered guys.. Xbmc can be a sensitive subject when it comes to talking About addons etc. So to avoid a slap on the wrist from the mods I wouldn't discuss any.

Just ordered

Is this any good for streaming Web content? I considered one to replace my chromecast which is pretty hit and miss but it looked like it didn't really do browser streaming or anything.

I've not tried to stream anything from mine.. Bit I know the like of all cast etc are working with it... I could maybe test if for you if you wanted later on tonight and give you a little feedback. May help you make up your mind

Thanks Chantelle, just bought one. Been waiting for this to come on offer. Amazon have this on offer at £69 as well, but with the eCoupon, this is a better deal.

You can cast your web browser through the Google Chrome web browser on the Chromecast. It works fairly well, although there is a very slight delay.

What content are you looking to stream? The Fire TV has Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITV, TVPlayer and other apps all which work very well.

gonna give this a try if only for xbmc

I currently have 2 chromecasts but find them pretty unstable on wifi (seem to work fine if the sending device is wired).

Generally i stream anime from chrome so losing that functionality would be a deal breakers. For my subscriptions like Amazon instant video i generally use my ps4/x1 and cut out the streaming.

I tend to either stream from the Internet or watch on dvd/blu ray so I'm not too fussed on streaming files between devices.

is this better then now tv?
does it have eterhent port to connect to router?
also is this tied into amazon products only -

How?

Brilliant bit of kit. Very impressed with it.

absolute rubbish

can anyone vouch for its speed/ability to scrape files from a nas please?

Does this do any transcoding? I have a NAS with media on it and my Chromecast won't play the sound on them (and I really don't want to re-rip everything to mp4), need something that can stream straight from the NAS and play through the TV.

apart from it double posting comments.....

I got this as a replacement to my Ouya and its great - its nice using a remote now rather than a controller. XBMC works great on it - no issues.

so this can be loaded with xbmc and work like the m8 fully loaded boxes you and get on eBay etc

Loading XBMC and various addons is fairly simple, its a pain to access though as you need to open it via the app manager in settings. However I have XBMC set to launch on startup.

Don't apologise, just give us reasons why it's so awful!!!???

So really it's £69.99 - you can use the £10 off for anything, making practically any item a potential deal.

Cold from me.

For anybody wondering if this runs xbmc.. Yes.. It does.. Here's mine. Stock.. No root.. I think the only thing worth rooting for is to get USB storage. http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u439/channy31015/Pics/IMAG0934_zpsvjvisgqk.jpg

Sure, I was just confused as that doesn't look like xbmc. I take it that's the fire tv frontend?
Can you give us a quick rundown of the other apps you've added?
Cheers

just google tvaddons for xbmc stuff

If you use the SPMC fork of Kodi/XBMC you can run it from the home screen
