Not sure if someone has already mentioned it but those of you who live in or around Birmingham (I'm Walsall based and still count) can get a further £20 off with their new Prime Now promotion. Enter code BIRMINGHAM at checkout on the app and it comes down to a nice £39!

Granted I actually paid £41 as opted to leave the £2 tip on as having it delivered between 20:00 - 22:00 tonight.

Still; a bargain if I do say so myself!

What makes this better than a Fire Stick?

it has more memory, a voice remote thing and Ethernet. the tv stick is better for the price IMO

I have both, and this is so much better and faster than the stick.

USB port, Ethernet port, double cpu core & ram

Very tempted to get one of these but still love my stick, not sure I'll really notice a difference!

Installing Kodi on the stick makes thing so much better, I'll say no more on here though.

Which is better for Kodi? Fire TV Box or Fire Stick?

I've got the stick with kodi and tvmc on. But 90% of films I try and watch says no stream available whatever link I try. Plus I get lots of buffering which I sorted with advice from youtube.

Would this box be better ?

PS. I get no stream problems with now tv.

Sounds like something isn't setup right.

TVMC is rubbish mate, it's full of addon's you'll never use. Install Kodi 15 from fresh.
Also have you got BT internet by any chance? If you have turn off SmartHub settings

This, using the Ethernet cable will give you a more stable and faster connection for HD streaming.
More memory and faster navigation. Plus the remote is handy.
Kodi is really good and streams HD content too.

Is the £59 a 1 off payment or do u have to pay anything else apart from rented films n apps??

You say the ethernet will give faster, I get 106meg on my stick via Virgin 5g (100meg) and its really stable. 5g WiFi is the way to go these days.

My brother is on BT and is having issues as well. I presume these 'SmartHub' settings are in the router settings? God I hate BT wireless hubs.

Its called Smart Setup, you disable that. My mate had a quick look on Google and found how to do it, said it only took a minute.
BT are stupid trying to block everything.

Thanks, I'll pass this nugget of info on to my bro. I hope it sorts him out.

What's better this or a t6 /m6????

BT, Sky and sometimes Virgin can cause problems with people's sticks/boxes. Look here for good guides to sorting out any.

just contact Amazon for a price difference refund if you bought from them

Do you think john Lewis would price match this ? I'd prefer to buy from a physical shop , ( I want it today ) could be easier to return if I had any issues. And a 2 year warranty .

I have both box and stick. The box is a lot faster and slicker than the stick, although both are great. If you side load kodi get the Arctic Zephyr skin, it makes the ui so much slicker.

It's a one off cost for the box. You can use it to access apps like BBC iplayer, Netflix etc for free (you would need a Netflix subscription to access that of course). You can install Kodi too which is a great free media player to stream from devices on your network.

You can also buy / rent TV series and movies from Amazon or get a lot for free if you are a Prime member.

I picked one of these up last time they was on offer at this price, but at Tesco Direct. Excellent little box, wouldn't be without ours...

Cheers. Was wanting a stick for kodi and plex but no eithernet was putting me off. This looks perfect.

It is an open sourced version of kodi but after having kodi for a few months ive found a hell of a lot more content on the wookie app store than just the official kodi setup

Are non playstore apps like showbox and mobdro downloalable on the Fire TV?

Believe you need to have root (which is hard to impossible on current boxes) in order to be able to access content on external HDD's.
