What for?
Why?
i still want to buy one though
Because I already have streaming youtube, netflix, twitch etc. through my chromecast. It seems silly to add another hdmi stick and remote when we could use what we already have.
I will admit to being of the older generation if that explains anything obvious that I'm missing.

You can delete your account details by logging out. Then someone else can login with their own details.
You can register and de-register amazon accounts with it.
so no such problem.
I think it's the ability to side load other streaming apps that makes this appealing, especially at this price.
It makes your TV 'smart'. If you have a Netflix and or Amazon Prime account, you can then watch all the movies and TV series. Or install Kodi/XBMC and take it to another level.
Plus you can get it to access all you media that's on your network very easily.
I already have one and I still want to buy one!
The attraction is that it makes your television "smart". It gives you the ability to have the free catchup services that you likely wouldn't have with a regular freeview setup.
It also gives you access to Netflix and Amazon Instant Video which you do indeed have to pay for.
Wouldn't you just use a Chromecast for Chromecast?!
Why do I want it even though I don't need it!?!
Yes
No when setting it up after connecting to your TV you log in. If passing it to a friend you would just log out then let them log in.
Also if you bought as a gift for someone else it wouldn't be linked to your Prime account until you logged in.
5 and 2.4
Would you happen to see & have a link to the amazon page explaining this I've lost it I'm sure I saw something about 2 devices. I'm looking again now, thanks

I edited my post with the link I was referring to and had lost, thanks
Me too, but I simply had to buy another for the tv in the bedroom and for me is a much better option than my Chromecast or now tv.
