I have one of these and it has turned into a really laggy piece of junk. I'd advise people to get the 4K stick instead, even if not watching in 4K

Firestick 4K, Firestick 4k! Firestick 4K, Firestick 4k!

Comeon baby!
Hopefully 4K goes down, what are the chances? Missed out on the last £29.99 deal
Is it true that prime day has been moved to August now? I was hoping to pick up some extra stuff then.

The cube is reduced to £89 which apparently is excellent, not tried one to be honest but I have 3 Firestick 4k's which are excellent but I have one gripe in that they cannot play interlaced live TV from the BBC HD due to missing hardware codes.

Apparently the cube can do interlaced so may take the plunge! You can use a remote with it too...
Not sure if the 4k will go down. They have updated the banners on homepage to show price cuts.

But then I've read from another commenter on another Cube post that it doesn't do Netflix 4K, not sure if it's true

Honestly the bit I love about the cube is controlling TV rather than having to use junk like harmony

"Alexa TV on"
"Alexa pause TV"
"Alexa switch to Virgin"

Then when I found out you can see your ring doorbell on your TV I lost my mind

"Alexa show front door"

Same.

Have people seen how much used ones are selling for on eBay, I'm hoping to factory reset mine and sell it between £25-£30 and hopefully get a 4K one when it's reduced to £30-£35.

Basically upgrading for a few pounds

I will possibly do the same thing

Me too
I just got a 4k one - if it goes down in price I will be looking for a partial refund
I get a sense with a number of companies like Netflix throttling their content down from 4K and Disney+ not doing 4K at the mo, Amazon may hold off the Firestick 4K reduction for now.
Also available for collection at ARGOS for same price, £24.95,
Get the 4K guys. You will not regret it.
Holding out for prime day. Last year managed to grab a 4k version for 24.99.
Was really hoping the 4K would drop
Is it worth the extra investment to get the cube ?

Any advice gratefully appreciated
Everyone is waiting for the 4k

Normally the price drops for the 4K stick at the same time as all the other products, so it does not look like the 4K stick will be discounted this time round unfortunately
4k one is excellent its like going from a 1.6 litre car to a 2 litre car much faster
Another good feature of the 4k version not available on the others is the video calibration to resize the screen to properly fit your display.

That said, I've a couple of these older ones as well and they work fine. They're more prone to overheating though so best to pop the cover off and remove the factory heatsink. You can then put a decent a small heatsink on the SOC with some thermal compound and tighten a couple of cable ties round the whole thing.

I could 3d print a new cover but I really can't be bothered for something that lives behind the TV40813634-TQxet.jpg

I admire the level of effort for a little stick.
I asked the same question before but forgot the answer, I pretty much use my Xbox1 for everything , prime , netflix, now tv, Plex etc etc.....with 4k HDR if available....

Do these things offer Any advantages to my setup

TIA

As you can see from the slapdash application of the heatsink paste, that whole effort took no more than 5 mins.
The processors on these are programmed to slow down when hot.
5 mins effort keeps it flying along and saves me 30 quid getting a new 4k stick for the kids tv. Also reduces the amount of tech I have stuck in drawers!

There's probably a couple of apps available on the Amazon fire store that probably aren't on the Xbox one. Apple TV springs to mind but can't be many. I'd stick with what you've got, plenty more flexibility.

Deffo genuine made in Wong Kong. Ha Ha
Reason I got the 4k HD stick was for the Apple Tv App (not available on my model of TV) - far cheaper than getting an Apple TV 4k. £160

Couldn't agree more
Has anyone tried using this for PS4 remote play app? Was looking at this last week for the sole use of PS4 remote play. Anyone tried connecting PS4 pad to it?
Does it stream well?

My TV already has built in 4k apps, so need it for this reason alone. Thanks
