I thought that most orders with Amazon had to be over £10 now to qualify for free delivery so when I ordered one CD at £4 I was expecting to pay a delivery charge.
The delivery charge was £1.49 (although the delivery charge for other items under £10 can be much more expensive, such as a book at £2.75 or a cosmetic item at £6.01), and that's to either home or to a Collect+ point. However, I spotted the Amazon locker service which is free of charge for all orders, regardless of cost! I'm now having it delivered to a locker point just a 5 minute drive from home, and which I pass regularly.
I had no idea about this service, so I thought it might be useful for other people to know about it too.
Items have to be of a size to fit into the lockers, so not large items, but a lot of Amazon items are smallish in size anyway. The seller has to be Amazon, or the order fulfilled by Amazon, so obviously the locker thing doesn't apply to items by third-party sellers.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU FIND AN AMAZON LOCKER POINT AND NOT A COLLECT+ POINT, AS SOME PEOPLE ARE CONFUSING THEM. You can find locker points by doing a search on Amazon, or by using Google, or using Google maps for your area and then searching for 'Amazon locker' You will find the most comprehensive list of points by doing all three searches.
I know it's not exactly a deal but purchases are much nicer if you don't have to pay for delivery!
IF THERE'S NOT A LOCKER IN YOUR AREA (they are not in all areas yet) then go to this page
amazon.co.uk/gp/…533
and you can let Amazon know where you would like one!

You're very welcome! I know a lot of people probably aren't near to Amazon lockers (I don't know if they cover the whole country yet, and I presume it's just larger towns or cities?) but for those who are it may be useful.
Excellent find OP-Thank you so much for sharing!

One thing to note is sometimes you only have 3 business days to pick up so bear that in mind. The deadline seems to vary from 3 -5 days to pick up when I receive my email confirmation.
It's a relative new concept in the UK and Amazon are introducing new locations all the time so for those who don't have one nearby, keep checking!
Just answering my own question... I put in the major postcodes from a poscode map ie first 3 to 4 digits and found one 10 miles away.
Amazon's packaging is hit and miss, Sometimes i order an item and think it's fine they shall post it through my letterbox and it will be at home waiting for me after work. How wrong i am that sometimes small items are packaged well over size and so it goes to the sorting office, Which is only open until 11am daily so have to wait until saturdays to pick up my order.
Alot of these collect+ shops/Lockers are open until 11pm so it works out alot better.
Thanks
