Amazon FREE DELIVERY to Amazon lockers.

Found 2nd Mar 2014
I thought that most orders with Amazon had to be over £10 now to qualify for free delivery so when I ordered one CD at £4 I was expecting to pay a delivery charge.
The delivery charge was £1.49 (although the delivery charge for other items under £10 can be much more expensive, such as a book at £2.75 or a cosmetic item at £6.01), and that's to either home or to a Collect+ point. However, I spotted the Amazon locker service which is free of charge for all orders, regardless of cost! I'm now having it delivered to a locker point just a 5 minute drive from home, and which I pass regularly.
I had no idea about this service, so I thought it might be useful for other people to know about it too.
Items have to be of a size to fit into the lockers, so not large items, but a lot of Amazon items are smallish in size anyway. The seller has to be Amazon, or the order fulfilled by Amazon, so obviously the locker thing doesn't apply to items by third-party sellers.
MAKE SURE THAT YOU FIND AN AMAZON LOCKER POINT AND NOT A COLLECT+ POINT, AS SOME PEOPLE ARE CONFUSING THEM. You can find locker points by doing a search on Amazon, or by using Google, or using Google maps for your area and then searching for 'Amazon locker' You will find the most comprehensive list of points by doing all three searches.
I know it's not exactly a deal but purchases are much nicer if you don't have to pay for delivery!

IF THERE'S NOT A LOCKER IN YOUR AREA (they are not in all areas yet) then go to this page
amazon.co.uk/gp/…533
and you can let Amazon know where you would like one!

You're very welcome! I know a lot of people probably aren't near to Amazon lockers (I don't know if they cover the whole country yet, and I presume it's just larger towns or cities?) but for those who are it may be useful.

cheers lou

I've been using them for a while now. Very handy as you can collect in your own time, no need to wait for Postie anymore lol

Great so you buy then arrange del to pick up and take receipt. Or what

@ aabarcellos - They text or email you a code. My nearest Amazon locker is in a shop. Just input your code into a kepyad or touchsscreen and your locker opens.

I've been using them for a while aswell. Beware though some items are too big for the locker and can't be delivered. A couple of times my local has been full aswell!

5 minute walk / 1 minute drive for me. Never new about this service. Thanks very much OP - great deal to share. Heat added !!

Oooooo there is one just down the road from me!! thanks so much OP X)

None in Manchester! oO

This is great- not heard of this before- and even better there is a collection point 5 mins away :-)

Anyone actually have one of the lockers near them?

used twice already, very convinient service when I have to go to the Uni everyday and there's a Amazon locker in one of the Uni's stores.

Use this almost weekly and it's brilliant!! Also handy for returns, as it saves having to wait in all day either way.

Brilliant, thanks for sharing, i have a locker just down the road from me.

Might come in very handy for me top spot OP !!

None in Belfast, can't find any in NI...

Cool, 2 within a 5 minute walk of my place, and I live in a smallish village

Very kind of you to share this.
Many thanks

Great find!! Thank you, there's one literally round the corner from me!

So will the collect + places work just as well? My collect + place is a tad dodgy - not sure if I'd want to collect mail from there - but there are no lockers that are close.

Just the job op some good news to wake up to.....10 min stroll for me!

says none near me yet I'm sure there must be one within 5 to 15 miles how do you expand the search range ?

None in Newcastle :0(

These are brilliant. Been using Amazon locker for a couple of months now. Mine is in a Co-op about 10 mins drive away. You get emailed/texted a code, type into the screen and the locker door opens with your parcel inside. Simple!

One thing to note is sometimes you only have 3 business days to pick up so bear that in mind. The deadline seems to vary from 3 -5 days to pick up when I receive my email confirmation.

It's a relative new concept in the UK and Amazon are introducing new locations all the time so for those who don't have one nearby, keep checking!

Great find. One in Fareham and also collect+ which I didn't know about either. Thank you.

That's brilliant we all hate paying for delivery!!

Just answering my own question... I put in the major postcodes from a poscode map ie first 3 to 4 digits and found one 10 miles away.

This is a great idea, Although it has been available for quite a while now.

Amazon's packaging is hit and miss, Sometimes i order an item and think it's fine they shall post it through my letterbox and it will be at home waiting for me after work. How wrong i am that sometimes small items are packaged well over size and so it goes to the sorting office, Which is only open until 11am daily so have to wait until saturdays to pick up my order.

Alot of these collect+ shops/Lockers are open until 11pm so it works out alot better.

Can't you just add a preorder for a videogame that won't see light of day for a while (halo 5) to get free delivery and then cancel the order once your smaller item arrives?

I exclusively use the lockers when the parcel is the right size. Saves waiting until the next day to drive to collect it. Lockers in Paisley are right next to the train station I use every day for commute. Another good thing is that the delivery time seems to be less too

Great post...I wasn;t aware of the lockers, but there's one near work, so Ideal! Especially for delivering the items the wife doesn't know about ;-)

thanks this will be a great help....found one 1mins drive away that l pass on way home......heat added!!

Very useful, wasn't aware.
Thanks
