Not sure if this will suit most of us UK residents as we get very little sunshine! And the price has been lower before but I don't have a time machine handy at the moment so this is the best at the present time.

I think this mains and solar powered power bank is good for taking out in the garden in summer or to festivals or when camping for a little extra boost to your mobile or tablet when you are unable to get to a wall socket. It claims to charge at around 300ma in good sunlight, so although it will take a long time to fully charge, it will still allow a tiny bit of emergency use of a device when you really are in deep s**t (or mud if at a festival!) think of it as an emergency device rather than a generator.

I have had the device charging in the window sill recently whilst it was cloudy and the indicator was still confirming a charge going into the pack, but I don't have a way of metering the power so can't really say if it was doing much good, but it seemed to work okay.

It also comes with a carabina, belt clip, a compass and a small USB to Micro USB cable to either charge or recharge.
It has two USB ports which can charge at 1.0a and 2.1a so should power must popular devices.

Price is for free delivery with prime or if you spend over £20.00. without either of these I was quoted for £1.99 with Amazons standard delivery service which is normally two days.

Some info from the Amazon site.

thanks just what I needed :-)
Forgot to mention I left it in the car on the dash, and it charged quite well whilst at work so could be kept in the car for emergency use, like if you break down and the cars battery is dead.
You will get cold votes for this because people say they take ages to charge but as you say its there for an emergency not every day use (heat added)
Can you charge on the fly? Ie charge your phone while the power bank is recharging via solar?

The soalr charge will be infintesimal off such a small panel but you could just plug it into the lighter socket whilst your driving to charge the battery as a back up.
how many years are we from technology about this size that can give us a decent charge
from the sun / daylight ?
solar technology seems quite stagnant
You can get a 20000mah for £20.89 from Amazon!

They defo have it but there's no need to give it the public when they can fleece us for thousands throughout our lifetime for energy. If they released such tech to us, the African and Asian nations would be energy powerhouses.

Not in the near future at least as any substantial charger really needs a much larger panel given they only give 60-80% efficisncy even in full sunlight.Something this size would take weeks to charge the internal battery if ever at a micro amp rate.

as it only charges at the maximum 300ma you would need a phone or tablet that draws about 5-10% less than that for it to work, for older really low powered phones it would be possible, but for things like iPhone 6 etc it would be a gamble whether it would work for very long as the current would probably go up and down with the change of UV received.

agreed, consider it an emergency device to give you a few seconds or minutes if the internal battery was relying on solar alone - i.e completely flat or 1 bar charge
