Okay folks if you have SONOS & Amazon Prime Music they are now as of 19.00hrs Monday 25/04/16, compatible.

Please note to search for amazon prime albums on SONOS you have to add the albums 1st in the amazon music app for iOS or android.

It is a two step process for this first release.

Amazon are obviously keen for everyone to try their music app. (which with X-Ray lyrics is very good).

* Ad-Free playback
* Curated thematic and genre based playlists
* Unlimited skips when listening to stations
* On demand, interactive playback from your Amazon Music Library

Where is Amazon Music available?
Amazon Music is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Austria.

What subscription level do I need to use Amazon Music on Sonos?
You must use an Amazon account with a Prime subscription to stream Prime stations and playlists via Amazon Music on Sonos.

What bitrate and format does Amazon Music stream in?
256 kbps AAC & MP3

What folk are already saying:

'It's working, it's definitely working. this now makes Amazon Prime Music actually worth the money'

Yes, it is now a 'new deal' it was moved yesterday, cheers

If it was moved this should be deleted and the other one moved back. Expect it's not a deal just an addition.

This isn't actually a deal is it... It's just an additional perk if you already have Prime.

Hi

This was counted as a deal hotukdeals.com/dea…037 and went to 1500 degrees plus. I have spoken to the mods and after review they agree it is a deal.

You might be right that this is not a deal. But...

If you've purchased a prime sub as a result of seeing it on hotukdeals (e.g Black Friday £59), sharing this new perk will genuinely benefit hotukdeal members, that may not hear about this addon elsewhere.

Bottom line - It has helped me - as I would not have known otherwise. Thanks OP - have some heat.

I don't disagree, but this should perhaps be advertised/promoted as Prime with free Sonos compatibility, or put it in "freebies".

I been using this for last few months already.

Which SONOS system do you use?

As the poster who originally posted the Amazon Prime Stations thread, I would like to prepare the OP for the inevitable avalanche of whingers and moaners (many of whom wouldn't know how to find/post a deal if their life depended on it) descending on this thread. My advice would be don't take them too seriously (I started to at first) but just enjoy the comedy value....

it's about time they supported prime music. now I can cancel my Spotify account and use my prime through my play:1s, cheers OP

If one is unable to select and play individual tracks/albums for streaming what is the point? I don't like these curated models at all.

Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

thanks will take your advice!, and I appreciate your original Amazon Prime Stations thread.

I just love those who comment on the "whingers and moaners" by not realising and being just that...

How does this compare to Napster when using Sonos?

Well Napster, Spotify, GPM etc costs £10.00 a month with Amazon Prime Music it is free with your Prime sub.
Amazon are serious about their catalogue ie they have The Beatles.
Also a search for say London Grammar's album on GPM does not show "If You Wait".
APM have their "If You Wait" album
Napster will have more choice at the moment
The APM radio stations on SONOS are also really good.

I have a Marantz MCR610 (plays Spotify etc) - does anyone know if Amazon Prime will work on it the same way it does on Sonos (I'm obviously not a techie)?

I use Spotify which has 30 million tracks and Amazon Prime has 1 million so OK as an additional feature of Prime if you are already subscribed but not really viable as a standalone music streaming service.

Even though I'm not a SONOS user this addition to Prime makes it even more of a bargain in the marketplace. And Amazon going for the jugular of their competitors is actually good for the consumer in the sense that their rivals (netflix, napster, spotify et al) will have to become more competitive on price/service in order to compete should they (inevitably) start losing customers who jump ship to Amazon (I never thought I would ever cancel netflix but did so 2 months ago!).

Against Netflix and Spotify combined, Amazon is starting to look quite attractive.

amazon are very serious about making APM a Spotify competitor, they are expanding their catalogue rapidly.

I guess it comes down to price versus choice etc. Spotify standalone costs quite a bit more than Prime, which includes many other attractions (free next day delivery, prime video, exclusive content, music streaming, Pantry etc) whereas Spotify just offers streaming. Some spotify users will decide to jump ship, I'm sure. It just depends how many do so before Spotify respond. Interesting times....

Isn't this an announcement that an existing music streaming service is now compatible with Sonos. How on eart could that be considered a deal? At best it should be in Misc.
Cold btw

I triple confirmed with the mods that this is a 'deal' all be it a 'grey area' as many are.
The mods are happy and it is being voted hot
cheers

APM and SONOS user here. Very pleased with this, thank OP!

the funny thing was this was in misc yesterday believe it was moved there from deals but that was spammed over this, sadly and mods wont agree but if something in in misc it should be moved back to deals once confirmed or if its moved to the there in error like this looks to have been.

A while ago Amazon were banned for self promotion, you can only speculate that since this went quite hot moving a deal from yesterday back to misc the site would loose the fees that it would get with a hot deal over a old one. Get ready for this to be a hotpick anytime soon.

Deal or not I have been awaiting this for ages.. Although I've requested and been accepted for Sonos Beta Program, I don't seem to have the Beta App on my Android or IOS devices..
I'm not too bothered, but know that this might have been available earlier if I had..

oh...been waiting for this...

Yeah, this could be considered both as a freebie if you're a Prime subscriber already or a deal if you've got a Sonos system and not currently a Prime subscriber. Amazon are certainly ramping up their marketing/offerings of their Prime service and it may be a compelling choice for some.

It's a pity amazon won't support chromecast.

Agreed, but it's probably more of a business decision than anything else

I posted the original post you refer to & I posted this one as well.
After triple checking all was okay with mods I asked for the original post to be deleted as it was a low profile "old deal" from yesterday.
I am in no way associated with amazon or SONOS I do however use both.
I can 100% assure you this is not "self promotion" by anyone.
hope that makes things clearer.
cheers

no need to explain yourself glad you got the credit, someone last week posted something in deals, didn't reply when it went to misc and then someone else got the credit was not suggesting you were promoting.

Rather than arguing about whether it's a deal or not, could someone perhaps post some details about it? How do you make use of it? I don't see anything obvious on my Sonos controller for accessing Prime Music.

Okay assuming you are a Prime subscriber
On your SONOS app
Click Add Music Services
Click on the orange Amazon Music icon
Click "Add to sonos"
Then just follow the instructions
until it says "Thank you" your Amazon music is ready to listen to on your Sonos device.

Then go back to app and name say "Prime"

Then click on the Amazon Music icon & start listening free on your SONOS system.

hope this helps
