Introducing Fire OS 5 "Bellini"
Introducing Fire OS 5
Updated user interface - Find the things you more easily
Fire OS 5 is the best entertainment experience on a tablet with quick access to the things you do most. The new home screen includes dedicated content pages for books, games and apps, video, music, audiobooks and Newsstand, making it quick to pick up right where you left off.

All-New - Apps that are actually free with Amazon Underground
Fire tablet owners have access to a one-of-a-kind app store experience where thousands of apps, games and even in-app items are actually free. Experience titles from top developers including Disney, Rovio Entertainment, Zeptolab and Sega of America without ever having to pay for the app or in-app purchases.

All-New - Read faster with Word Runner
Word Runner is a fun new way to read faster. It keeps your eyes focused on the centre of the page and brings each word right to where your eyes already are. With Dynamic Pacing, Word Runner slows down automatically for difficult words, punctuation and paragraph breaks. And when you first start reading, it gradually builds up to the speed you choose. If you miss something, just tap and hold the screen to activate the Brake.

Share content with Family Library
Family Library links your Amazon account to that of your spouse or partner so you can easily share apps, games, audiobooks and books, and it now allows Prime members to share their Prime Video. Access your family's content across devices - both Amazon devices and free Amazon apps for other platforms, including iOS and Android.

No more waiting
With ASAP (Advanced Streaming and Prediction), Amazon movies and TV shows are ready for you to watch instantly. ASAP dynamically adapts to your viewing habits.

Revolutionary on-device tech support
Mayday Screen Sharing brings Mayday-powered customer service to Fire tablets. Amazon experts can now connect to any Fire tablet to guide you through features by drawing on your screen, walking you through how to do something yourself, or doing it for you - whatever works best.
Community Updates
Note that this is the old low resolution one with a slower chipset.

I'm not paying Amazon for a device to show me Ads. The concept is just plain wrong - and from the reviews, some of the adverts aren't suitable for kids. £10 to remove the ads, and seriously locked down unless you have PRIME.

Plenty refurbished alternatives like Lenovo Tab and Acer Iconia our there.

Agree not the easiest tab with Amazon footprint. I am going to try a YouTube android fix .
Getting Play Store on this is really easy (just install a few apks) and you can also replace Amazon's interface with something like Nova Launcher with Launcher Hijack for a more vanilla android experience.

Thanks I will have go
some had issues with play store on comments in YouTube
Almost ordered but it’s 16gb, so must be a older model?

Note that there is a New Fire HD 10 in Good vondition via the Warehpuse for £112.
I bought newer (NEW, not refurbished) ver. 1080p for £100 from Argos. So, cold ❄ from me.

PS. It's still slow as f**k, bit better than 7", enough only for kids.

Even after all that you cannot get NowTv on it.
This is indeed the older version and doesn’t have a full HD screen

I agree with you, but people aren't too bright. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that if Amazon charged a premium for the ad-laden version they'd still sell plenty of them as long as they used a pretentious euphemism for ad-crap.
"Smart Messages" That would do it.

That's easy for you to say.

You can

Can you tell me how please. I have got play store and have installed NowTv but when it comes to running it, it says ‘not compatible with this device’.
All other apps from playstore work flawlessly.

I have just installed from Play Store and runs fine - streaming etc. Unless you've got a slightly different version to me / different software version?

As a side... It definitely doesn't work on Fire TV/Stick.

I have got the 2015 7” kindle fire. Maybe that isn’t compatible.

Perhaps. We've got that too will test and let you know. Could be something to do with minimum resolution or something?
Called HD but not really full 1080p HD. Very odd.
Honestly I think this is a bad deal because its an old model and refurbished on top of that. Seriously what the heck they should be lucky to get £100 brand new for these when Amazon at one point had the latest gen £109.99 at one point.

Poor hardware, resolution, half the storage and refurbished.

£20 more and you could have got the latest model with 32gb from BT shop.

Cold, cold, cold. Sorry.
