For info: there is a later (2019) version - see this link for differences.

Personally, I think that now the latest Paperwhite also has IPX8 rating and Audible support, it is much better value for money...

Mad price! Hot hot hot!
Wow great price!!! Before xmas I couldn't find ANY for less than £230.
Just to note this is the 9th gen not the latest 10th gen. still a hot price though.

For the 9th gen (this deal) or the 10th gen?. there’s been quite a few deals on here for the 9th for well under £200 over the last few months due to the 10th gen coming out.

Smaller screen though, isn't it ?
Beautiful looking Kindle. Feels super premium. Almost too premium. I almost wish I got the Paperwhite instead. I'm way to protective of my tech and being overly careful with a device meant for reading is a bit silly. I'm slowly getting over that though lol.

Yes - an inch smaller, but the PPI is the same (and the Oasis has 12 LEDs vs the 5 on the PW).

Ah nice deal. I am tempted and nearly ordered. I still have my old Kindle that works so can't really justify buying a new one so I've talked myself out of it. I might bite if a paperwhite kindle goes for a bargin price.
Am I correct in thinking this one doesn't have the warm white light option?

Yes you’re right.
Almost the perfect kindle. USB-C would be ideal!

not trying to be argumentative, but would that make much difference other than save an hour per month in chargetime? ta

Advantage is the cables are reversible. Since more and more tech is adopting the more modern USB-C it'd be nice to not need to keep track of two types of cable going forward.
If I need to borrow a charger or a cable, it's much more likely I can borrow Micro USB than USB-C. On that basis, still happy for devices that don't really need USB-C to continue to be Micro-USB, until USB-C is quite a bit more common.

Yeah just out of convenience. Was just moaning about it as forgot to pack my micro usb cable when away for a few weeks over christmas. Would be nice if iPhones and Kindles made the switch this year
Love my Oasis, I have the newer one but I'm sure there isn't much difference. Love that you can disable the touchscreen and just use the physical buttons.
Any paperwhite deals around?

The main difference is the introduction of the warm light.
All gone

Not that I am aware of. I added "Kindle" to the list of alerts I get on HotUKDeals so I am notified if a Kindle deal gets hot. That is how I saw this deal. It does mean I get notified of deals for eBooks that you can use on Kindle but it's not too bad to sift through them. I am hopeful I can get a paperwhite for £60 or less when they release a new model. The oasis looks good but I kind of think it is so good I would be too scared to take it out the house whereas I'm happy to chuck my current Kindle about willy nilly.

I thought it was completely normal, myself.
These in theory look kind of ridiculous. But I got my mum the 10th gen for Christmas and I couldn’t believe how small, light, slick and premium feeling it was.

If I’d seen this before it expired, I’d have snapped one up without a doubt.

The only real difference between the 2018 and 2019 version is that the back light has an adjustable ambient orange type light... 2018 and 2019 both are waterproof, with Bluetooth and have built on Audible.

There is very little difference.
saw a 2019 version in CEx today... £200. Guess you have to be a commited reader to benefit from these, considering how much all-round pleasure an iPad can give you for the same money
Mine arrived today (thanks OP).

In order to register my device I had to manually upgrade the firmware.... see amazon.co.uk/gp/…5DW

I used the bin file for Kindle Oasis (9th Generation). Copied this across to the device root folder, held the power button down a while until I was offered the option to restart.

What was happening for me was that the registration would keep failing and the message suggested trying later.
Having used the Oasis a bit, I think I prefer the form factor of the Paperwhite over the Oasis. It's a pity Amazon don't produce a larger screen Paperwhite.
