I believe it was something like double extra points, but this hasn't updated with the price change (it was 109 before so 218=2*109)

Best current paperwhite deal imo

Hoping Amazon do something similar as I cracked the screen on mine

About your cracked one, even if you bought it a while back, perhaps you should try your luck with Amazon Customer Services and say you expected better for what is supposed to be the 'premium' e-book reader and the Amazon brand name etc... - they may help you. Worth a try I think, you've got nothing to lose.

Brilliant price.

Good find been looking for a new one as mine is the first one that came out.

Mine cracked after a very minor incident and I did the same - they posted me a replacement kindle as a good will gesture. Even more impressive considering it was a gift and therefore the purchase had not originally been made by my amazon account. So worth a go...

Kinda tempted by this but the Kindle's lack of format support puts me off. Calibre makes converting any regular ebook trivial (except in the 5% of times it won't convert something) but cbr/cbz is still a problem.

Need to replace my ageing Kobo Glo though, the backlight has developed a just-perceptible flicker and it has a habit of crashing opening 200mb+ cbrs

Why limit yourself due to one obscure format?

Argh I'm so annoyed after buying the other deal for £73, I could have bought from a uk retailer and used my voucher to boost them

£85 today on Amazon

Bought recently via groupon for £99 - it's now on its way back. The extra club card points make it a no brainer. Great find

ordered, was after one after my old one went bump!

Thanks

How much is a Clubcard point worth?

I wonder if these will drop even lower for Black Friday...

thanks

I'd wait for Black Friday.. but £79 is a good price though..

I dont imagine they will reduce the price much more than £30

Knowing Tesco, they will put the price up on Black Friday.

As above, I really can't see it getting better than this.

Maybe of interest - Amazon have a refurbished 6th generation Paperwhite 3G (great for checking gmail, and basic web browsing whilst abroad etc at no cost) for £89 on the Deal of the day.

Using Calibre makes converting from most common formats really easy (almost automatic). If you've any e-reader you should be using Calibre anyway as it's easily the best tool for managing your devices.

John Lewis price match

John Lewis have price matched Argos, not Tesco.

Thanks.

Ordered - thanks. Was waiting for Black Friday but don't think even Amazon will go this low on the Paperwhite (they've only gone to £84 today). Also with Clubcard boost vouchers, it just basically cost me £7! So thanks for saving me AT LEAST £72!!

Amazon have just price matched (okay 99p more expensive) - with special offers. However it would appear that I can double up my club card points so will go for this.

Cant see it getting cheaper as Argos and Tesco's have forced Amazons hand. Anyway five day delivery so plenty of opportunity to cancel.

Woah. A couple of hours ago it was £84! Talk about reacting to the market! Still cannot be touched if you have Clubcard vouchers - the boost to double value makes it an absolute steal, even if you've only got £10 worth of vouchers, that's still a £109 Kindle for £59!

Also, a quick online chat with Amazon and they usually turn off 'special offers' for you without charging anything...or, just keep it in Flight mode all the time, then they can't 'send' you adverts anyway!

£85 today on Amazon

I see its £79.99 on Amazon now with adverts . If you buy it from tesco/johnlewis, do theirs have adverts?

They all have adverts now. You can have them turned off for £10 while buying from Amazon, or later on via the device/Amazon account.

To be honest, you really do not notice them.

Edit: It seems it's now £15 to remove adverts.

Ok actually realised I have £20 in club card vouchers to use, so a no brainier really, plus about 300 points back.

Ordered and managed to get £21 off using Clubcard boost. Thanks OP.

P.S. I'd have gone for the John Lewis deal had I not had any Clubcard vouchers to use, as knowing Kindle failure rates the extra year guarantee could prove useful

I was looking at getting a normal kindle on friday if they were on special offer but I just ordered the paperwhite from tescos for £79.00 used clubcard boosts and ended up paying £17.00 for it hot from me
