Good spot. I think that as a prime member id prefer to buy from Amazon for the customer service and get the free 1 day delivery, but Tesco better if you've got clubcard points and Tesco nearby.
Nice one, was hoping they'd match the Tesco deal as I think this was £85 this morning.
Fab price!
excellent price.i have the first generation paperwhite does anybody have experience that this is alot better?
flubit refusing this. bit sick of them not submitting stuff lately!
Bought the normal Kindle from Amazon for £70 last week, gutted

Don't know if it still works this way, but when I had a problem with a Kindle I bought from a shop, Amazon happily replaced it themselves rather than expecting me to take it back to the shop. Since the shop was actually in the USA (and, by then, I wasn't) I was quite pleased with that.
Tempted for my mum but the special offers might confuse.

I had the same issue, but if you ask on live chat, usually they take them away for free. If you don't get it first time, try again with a different rep on chat

What would you say to them on chat? Would you just ask straight away or in a sneaky way lol
John lewis will price match Tesco @ £79.00 - just got confirmation email.

And the 3 year warranty including accidental damage is £20 at john lewis £28 at amazon. As this is going to a child I will pay the extra for the piece of mind.

I went in with the 'it's for my mum who's not the most tech savvy and thinking of returning the kindle' and then they jump on the offer to take the ads away
Amazon finally matched the price some guy is selling those on ebay for. What a deal!
Hi
Could someone tell me what they take off for free?

The screensaver shows an advert of books to buy. Not a deal breaker as it is just the screensaver when it's off but it does annoy some people

Oh excellent that is a good idea. Do you think they would do the same if I went for the Tesco offer? It would be very cheeky of me though wouldn't it
Are these adverts a new thing? I'm just curious because I had the original paperwhite from 2012 (I think) then I got the 2014 model when it came out. I don't have any adverts and weren't actually any aware they came with them at all not to mention asking/paying for them to be turned off.
I did have the 'Recommended' books on my home screen but I turned that off.
I was contemplating getting one but may wait a couple more years until there's a big difference in the models, can't justify getting another one so soon
Such a great price though.

It's fine if you buy your Kindle from an official supplier such as Tesco. I bought a 2013 paperwhite from Tesco and had an issue with the screen a month or two later, and it was quickly sorted out by Amazon.

Also, the 2013 paperwhite I got from Tesco was 'Without Special Offers', whereas to get that on Amazon for the 2015 model it is £94.99. The one that is £79.99 displays special offers in sleep mode rather than the generic images.
Thank you for getting back to me by the way WillRob88
May be a good time to use that £10 voucher for one hour delivery, saying that my Kindle Touch from 2011 is still going strong.

they can do that? So you bought a kindle with offers, then later asked if they could remove it and they did? I thought the models with ads were different from models which didn't show them, that's great news if they could remotely remove the ads?

Yeah, the next time I connected to wifi it updated for a little while and then they were gone
Just got this using the prime now offer. Came to £69.99
Does anyone know if the power adapter from the old model would fit the new one?
Other wise its another £17.99 on top.
Great deal!

The power adapter is just a standard micro USB connector, so the old ones will be fine.
I was looking at getting a normal kindle on friday if they were on special offer but I just ordered the paperwhite from tescos for £79.00 used clubcard boosts and ended up paying £17.00 for it hot from me

Prime now has just started in Newcastle. There is a £10 off a £30 spend for all new customers. Ordered it around 5pm and was delivered at 7pm.

As a gen 1 owner too, I would like to think not.
300 vs 221 PPI, but apparently also double the number of pixels!??!

here's a comment from a video of 2nd vs 3rd gen comparison on youtube
I have both kindles here and I am going to keep the old one, because it has better contrast and the power button is easier to press. I couldn't really tell the difference between 300ppi and 212ppi and the lighting of the Paperwhite 2 is not as blue as the lighting of the Paperwhite 3, which is good because it doesn't stress your eyes as much as the more blue lighting.

I'm waiting for the revolutionary update. At the moment, it seems like they're addressing an issue that isn't a problem just to demonstrate progress

I upgraded from the first gen to this one...before the price drop....and while it's not revolutionary, it is better. Once you're reading you probably won't notice, but then that's the same for something like a 4K TV....after the initial woooaaahhh! factor wears off it's all about the content.

Great deal, thanks. Had enough Tesco clubcard vouchers to boost and get a "free" paperwhite for my son for Christmas. Brilliant.

I'd suggest having a word with Kindle customer support. I bought the paperwhite 10 days ago and saw the price drop by £30. Had a word with them over chat. Didn't even have to ask for a refund. The rep offered a £30 refund as soon as I had finished moaning about the price drop and how unlucky I was to have bought just 10 days ago.
Hi - can someone confirm if Kindles are (still) not Library / Epub compatible. My mum has a Nook and she likes borrowing library books on it. She needs a new e-reader as the Nook has been well used but showing some issues.
Anything else worth looking at?
Picked one up at Tesco's at lunch. Set it up, and then straight on to customer services. They tried to charge me £10 to remove ads, but then backed down as soon as I mentioned taking it back.

Ads were removed as soon as the kindle connected to wifi. Didn't even require a software update.

Pretty sure you can add those books via Calibre.
