Paid 90 at Argos yesterday. Damn
Thanks for posting

Would i be right in assuming this is the one with ads you need to pay to have removed?

I would think so based on the initial price.
For those who ordered on Amazon, just send it back saying the description was misleading and then order this. Great price. Thanks for posting.

I've owned Kindles for years now and have to say that the ads never ever get in the way.
They only appear when you first turn it on and it's only for as long as you want it to be on your screen, it's totally non obtrusive

it's better to contact them via online chat and politely ask to match the price because you find it cheaper.

Ditto, got for £74 using some vouchers I completely forgot about
The original Kindle case is very nice but a bit overpriced IMHO, so looking for an alternative...
Still undecided on this or to pay more for the oasis.
I bought a 'Grade A' Paperweight from Cex a while back, was only about £50 or so, but I think it's one of the first ones.

I'm not an avid reader, but it's a pain trying to read books when I intend to do so at night, and book lights (I've tried a few) are so unsuitable for the purpose. I had a few statements along the lines of "Why don't you just use the Kindle app on your Fire tablet" and so on, as if one of these is a bit like having a phone without being a smart phone etc.

I think they're great, and I've already burned through a few books in the past month. It's so convenient to just pop it in my backpack for work, and I can then read at lunch. I've charged it maybe once or twice since I've had it, and it's still on ~50% charge now. It's also better than a printed book in such that you can change the font type and size, plus instantly get definitions of words you don't understand, or wikipedia entries for certain things.
I bought one from Tesco two days ago for £89 - rang them up this morning and they refunded me £10
Thank you . Great find
Can anyone confirm that this is the 300 ppi model?

Yes.

Quote taken from the foot of the Tesco web page under 'ADDITIONAL INFORMATION'

"The all-new Kindle Paperwhite, our best-selling E-reader, is now even better with an improved high-resolution 300 ppi display, new typography and layout features."
Just got mine for 61. Used vouchers I had saved so thank u xx
I have tons of free books in pdf format, which are a pain to read on a pc. Would they read ok on this device or is it money wasted?
gorgo2015....u need an a free app called calibre...converts pdf to any format

No, as i understand it, Kindle uses the .MOBI format, however, you can download a program called Calibre onto your PC/Laptop and convert your .PDFs into the required format, hope this helps (its very easy to do )
I've heard several people predict a new model this year perhaps.
Not sure if to buy.

Heat added though.

This, this and this :-) Ditto, ditto and ditto. Brilliant piece of kit, and way more user friendly than my first one.

Would amazon price match this?

Tried this and got a big fat "no",and also epic fail on attempt to get them to remove the adverts free of charge.
Thank you!

nothing dishonest about it, you are simply exercising your consumer rights. I would even tell them it is because you have found the same thing cheaper. They will even provide you with a full refund or would offer to refund the difference.
Does this come with special offers (Amazon advertisement) ?

It's got ads on the lock screen and some that come up at the bottom of the screen on the main menu page - I'll try my luck on chat with Amazon CS to get them removed for free, they will definitely do it if you pay £10

Chatted with Amazon CS, told them

"Bought Kindle Paperwhite from Tesco - their website didn't say that the device would have adverts on"

and was pleasant with them - ads removed, no charge
