Been waiting for this to go back down to £89.99 to pick a new one up after breaking my old one.

Price dropped to 89.99 at most retailers now, Argos must have just jumped the gun and started a day early!

Best buy probably at John Lewis, a whole 4 pence cheaper but you also get the 2 year guarantee included!

Have you tried one? Much better than a phone or tablet in my opinion. Better in daylight, better in the dark. No glare and a better screen for reading text on. Battery lasts for ages and ages, won't get distracted by text alerts/calls/social media etc.

Get on live chat and say you paid for special extras but all you can see is adverts. You thought it would be something special. Some of the adverts aren't in line with your religious beliefs and could they remove the offensive ones. They will cancel them off at no extra charge.

Isn’t this the normal price? Or is this without the ads?
Normal price is £109.99. It comes down in price to £89.99 sporadically.

£89.99 at Argos, £109.99 at John Lewis, Amazon, Currys etc. At the moment.
have you contacted amazon about the broken one? In my experience they are really good at replacing them- 2 broken = 2 replaced and it was my own fault each time

Never even thought to try! Will give them a message and see what they say. Sure I'll have a family member I can donate the spare to!

Cheers

try their live chat, use it all the time when I need to resolve issue
I paid £79.99 from Tesco direct when they had £10 off electricals. Best thing i purchased. Not paid for a single book yet. So yes £89.99 is about normal price when on offer. X Just checked and there £108 at Tesco now.

Is this the newest generation one?
Will John Lewis price match? A 2 year guarantee would be great

I had a problem with one after I knackered it up by adding some large sized book via Calibre. It didn't like it and went into a boot-loop. Got onto live chat and they told me that the warranty on a Kindle - per their site is only 12 months and mine was 15 months old. I pointed out that every electrical item bought in the EU (make use of it quickly!) had a 2 year warranty. They said that 'because I am a valued customer' they would honour it this time. They sent me a refurbed unit that was mint condition and has worked a dream for over a year.

I agree with this.
Had a paper white a couple of years ago and been using the app on android and iPhones too. Reading on the paper white is much better

No distractions from the phone...and for me..
I also suffer with migraines that I feel the glare from phones and tablets aggravate after long periods. Battery life is phenomenal...
Ordered thanks
Still the gold standard of e-readers. Well worth the money - but you have to handle them quite carefully.

Really? This isn't the Nook Glowlight. Mine has been to the beach and got covered in wet sand, been dropped and also lives in my work bag daily. Very robust from what I have found.
I’ve been waiting for it to drop to this price! Good spot!

Pay extra, but they aren't really worth paying more to remove.

eyes and vision reasons, look at text printed on paper and then compare it with lit screen on a panel.
I keep meaning to pick one of these up but my 5 year old standard kindle that has been all around the world and has had tonnes of use is still going strong! Battery life is not as good as it used to be but still lasts for days.

One of the best travel gadgets you can have.

Negative. I have the original but it’s kindy useless as I only read at night and need a torch with it so end up using the phone.

eplies all make sense I guess.
Perfect, just lost mine after leaving it on a plane, gutted when i thought i was going to have to pay full whack, bought!

I have managed to break 2. But one was fire and he snapped in half heh. So those 2 I'd say any device would have been doomed.

My current I've had for years now and it's so damned durable. I took it camping and it was swimming in a pool in my tent for 3 days... Dried it off at home, charged and works great. And that was 2 years ago.

Also a but of software called Calibre is amazing. Not just for pirating books. It let's you buy and load from other sources which may be cheaper like Google books etc.
Now 89 on amazon too. If you haven’t used prime now before there is a £10 off £50 code. Brings it down to £79 delivered to your door in 2 hours.

How is "blue light" on these. Are they likely to keep some people away after using? If using at bedtime of course

Updated description etc. to include other retailers now. Suspected that it would drop everywhere else today to be honest!

I'm sure they're side light, could be wrong, so the lights not directed to your face like a phone or tablet. But it does still emit light on the blue spectrum. But I've never been affected by it, usually use my kindle when I can't sleep as I've found if I look at my phone I'll be awake a lot longer.
Ugh! I just bought one a few days ago for my girlfriend at £109! Suggestions? I'm a longtime Amazon customer so feel they should credit me a 20 voucher or make some kind of gesture. She can simply return it and I can buy again, but that seems less ideal for everyone. Meanwhile, I do like the idea of the extra year guarantee form John Lewis..

If you bought it directly from Amazon they will likely comp you the £20 as a refund - they did this for me last year when a similar thing happened, and are generally pretty good at sorting out pricing queries like that when its for items they sell direct (rather than marketplace).

Been asking my parents to get me this as a burthday gift, so I’m hoping it goes on sale for this price next month or so
Edited by: "Immortal-Cat" 5th Mar
By the way I don't work for Amazon but I would strongly suggest you pay the extra and buy the official cover for this. I have gone through loads of cheap ones and wish I had spent the asking price for the proper cover. All the rest have been crap - magnets failed, case split on seams, doesn't unlock the screen etc. The official cover is superb and looks as new as the day I bought it.
