Amazon Kindle Touch £49.50 @ Tesco instore

124
Found 25th Apr 2013
Just popped in to my local Tesco store in Yate, Bristol and noticed they have reduced the Amazon Kindle Touch half price to £49.50.
This isn't the latest model so there is no built in light.

Approx 20 in store when I left, I asked if it was National and he said he believed it was provided stores have remaining stock.

There was also the non touch version for £29.50.

Shame these offers are store specific. Thanks anyway.

I was in Tesco Finchley central earlier and spotted they had a reduced kindle but it was just the old one with the keyboard reduced to £99 and they had the full range. So as with all Tesco's stuff like this, don't make an extra special effort.

Seen them today with reduced stickers at £69.50 and I thought that was a good price, if I'd seem them at £49.50 I'd probably have bought one.

Hot

If anyone knows if this is in the Kingston Park store i'd appreciate the heads up

Not worth £10, even.

Just use an app on your tablet or phone - eink is crap and not easier on the eyes.

I read this, and the comments to it. I have the kindle touch, and the text to speech function is pretty amusing. It's like having an audio book read by Stephen Hawking

Tripe. I find it far easier to read books on my Kindle than on my tablet or phone.

the screens on these are great for reading outside and in the sun - unlike on a phone or tablet where the glare reflects off the screen

Yeah apart from backlight on tablet gives me a 24 hour migraine. Good luck also on holiday using it under the sun.

Your opinion and you are entitled to it but not everyone can afford a table and phones can be too small to read a book on. Kindles are cheap and in my opinion very easy on the eyes, no reflection and lightweight (not to mention book sized). The battery on my kindle lasts months between charges i doubt that would be the case on a tablet!

yeah I know, should be the other way round, don't waste your money on stupid expensive tablets

I really wish my local store would start reducing theirs..............I'm having withdrawal symptoms from my kindle as it decided to try swimming and the hubby won't let me use the iPad in case I try "syncing" that too

How old was it? You get 12 month warranty from new, my got crushed in my suitcase by the airline and Amazon replaced it within 3 days for free

Great find, heat added, but wouldn't mind getting a paperwhite..... can anyone recommend it or know of any good deals??
Can't be doing with glare when outside on the nexus or my phone...

Apps don't have the same features as the actual Kindle. For example, the iOS app won't let you buy a book once you've finished reading the sample. Reading on the iPad mini is irritating too since the bezels are too thin and you'll end up turning the page accidentally.

Anyone know any Glasgow stores that might have it at this price?

Non at Walsall branch but I did spend £16 on other stuff while I was there..... Doh!....they got me good!!

not at this offer price in any Rotherham store

Not at the Tesco in Cheam - Surrey.

That's cheap. Yates not far from me, did they have many left?

Edit: sorry just read it again, about 20 left..
Edited by: "Joanna18" 25th Apr 2013

Still got some in Yate - including 1 ex display non-touch for £30. There was about 9 left about 30 minutes ago

even without going to my store i can confidently stake my life there won't be any at this price.

none in the Southampton Tesco Homeplus store sadly

You, sir, are talking complete and utter b0llux. I presume you have never spent more than 30 seconds using a Kindle, or you are just so stupid you cannot even read.

This is a great deal.

Kindle touch will change your life. I read more books than ever and there are always deals in the amazon store. The latest software update is a massive improvement too - better interface and the device seems more touch sensitive than before. I don't use my ipad for reading ebooks, kindle is much easier on the eyes.

Just got one from Brigg, can confirm Wigan had some in (friend told me) and believe the Scunthorpe branch is also reducing them to £49.50........

Just got 2. Still had about 7 left when I left 45 mins ago. Buy any case and get another £5 off (leather ones already reduced to £13) also get receipt for £5 off any spend over £40 w/c 29/04/13

Ta muchly, picked mine up this evening... expecting one happy boy come birthday time. Thanks op!

My favourite Kindle by far for quality reading on, no matter what other tablets and phones you have everyone in the country should own one of these, absolute MUST.

Top trolling.

Available in Cardiff Extra for £59 - had about 5 left i think. Also had one ex-display one with no box/charger for £49.

The people who say "just use your phone/Ipad/tablet" are most likely the ones who read for 2 minutes at a time between Facebook or Twitter updates.

A Kindle, or any other dedicated ereader, will be FAR better for those who read more than a couple of pages at a time. I spend hours on my Kindle, and I have no problem with it at all. It's just like reading a paper book.
