Probably means new subscribers to music unlimited rather than new to prime
This is actually ridiculous. So to get access to 2 million songs you have to be prime member then to get access to 40 million songs you have pay additional amount. Maybe they will bring up something for which you have to be prime member, and pay for one service and again pay for another one.

You get access to 2 million songs free with prime membership not the 40 million this is for.
Why only new prime members? Thought prime was all about getting exclusive benefits, now you have to be a new customer to benefit too? Good for new users I guess but seems unfair for customers that might have had it for years...
I've been a Prime member for 3 years and I just signed up for this and the order is confirmed as being £0.99, so not just for new Prime members.

Took out the NME offer on here last week. Doh!
It worked for me and I have been a member since last September.

Don't be surprise that in the future all must sign up for prime to shop with Amazon and Prime plus members will get free delivery....

So use one of the other legal services with 40 million songs that charges almost nothing.

Can you cancel immediately and still get the 4 months trial - I just know I will forget and end up paying £8/month?

Will Alexa pick this up or do I need to add it in somehow?
Yes you can cancel immediately so you don't pay the renewal and keep the 4 months unlimited music. I just did it.
Alexa picks it up automatically.

I'd say they are all as good as each other as they all have about 40 million songs. It's not as if they each have 40 million songs exclusive to their service alone.

Guess it's similar in a way to their Prime Video, where you have to pay extra to watch the newer releases.

Or just get all the current deals to try them all for yourself for not much outlay.

99p Spotify, Deezer, and this, free Tidal and Google play. Even free month of Apple Music.

£3 try the lot of them.
Perfect, I'll have been living off free (nearly free) trials for a year now.
My other half had a one month Prime membership. Tried to get the £59 Prime yearly on hers, and wasn't possible. So took out the £59 yearly on my non-prime account and cancelled her Prime, which still has a couple of weeks to run. I have a Dot, and had a one month Amazon Music Unlimited account when I first got that, so annoying can't get this 4 months for 99p, but have just ordered it on the OH's account, which I will run through Echo. A bit of a long way around, but have both Amazon deals now. Thanks OPs.

Cross off Deezer though if you object to egregiously patronising TV adverts. It's the only language advertisers understand.

This bit in the T&Cs tend to say not...

Never seen their adverts
Perfect timing, my 4 months free Google play music is just about to expire (and 4 months for 99p deezer expired just before that).
Thought I was going to have to settle for a measly 2 million songs with prime music, oh the hardship that would have been
Heat added.

You can click manage subscription via the app in settings, cancel straight away (after several are you sure you want to messages) and it shows clearly when your subscription will end (end of October).

Yup my current Google play sub ends next mouth (had four months free).

I get prime benefits in an Amazon household (not a direct prime customer) so will have to see if I can get the same 99p offer...

Edit - confirmed, 99p offer even in a prime household.

My Google play sub expires on 22 July. Do we know how long this amazon offer is on for? Ah 11 July I see. Worth it for a small overlap.

Does this work if you are on student prime?

Personally I like it this way. It's not like Netflix or Spotify where they only do one thing, and if you subscribe it can be assumed that you really like that thing. Amazon Prime has a whole range of features, so I would much rather that Prime comes with a basic version of each one and allows me to upgrade them individually if I want to, rather than assume I want same-day delivery and every song and every video and every book and charge me accordingly.
I can't get it but its a great price.
Anybody listened to all 40 million songs yet?
Brilliant, my Spotify trial was coming to an end end of this month, just signed up (existing prime member) and received the offer as advertised. Thank you and voted hot!
Heat added, can't go wrong for 99p

Yes - see original post above!
