Amazon offers Free Super Saver Delivery to Europe and Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa

Found 26th Jun 2011
Super Saver Delivery is currently available for customers ordering items to the UK and many international destinations.

There's a minimum spend of £25, and you can only send books, music and dvds to Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa.

I used it to send to South Africa, seems to go via DHL, and it took two weeks. I sent it to a post office box, and the recipients were charged £8 - not sure if customs or post office fees. Am trying again to a home address.

May expire on 15 August.

Yes, and I'm really annoyed that I've missed out on 2 years of it.

I never knew this, thanks and heat added for the info!

Has it always been like this to Australia, India, NZ and South Africa? Maybe that's new?

Thanks for the info i wish amazon.com done a similar thing

Thanks OP!

Thanks

me too, would be a great place to get R1 dvds from then

There is a minimum spend of £25, which is above many countries import limits for no duty/VAT/tax, whatever they charge. So customs must love this, as they know every amazon box coming in is liable for duty.

Cold for me!!

Not really a problem in EU-countries...

I have already bought loads of stuff from Amazon when I still had the pay for delivery, no even more.

By the way: Allthough they say the minimum is £25, I found that most orders that are above £20 go for free delivery once you go to checkout. This might also help those with import duty issues

Still no free delivery to Switzerland.

But, they remove the VAT before charging me, and then add on the delivery cost... so it's still a hell of a lot cheaper than the prices over here.

If this deal is based around delivery being free to EU countries - how exactly does it qualify as a Hot UK deal?

Play.com does free delivery, maybe I should post a deal about that.

UK people living abroad? Maybe people from Europe that live here that have family that can buy stuff much cheaper from Amazon UK than in their own countries?

Eire is now free.

It's hardly a deal, its not hot and it's been around for ages.

I'm surprised so many folk think its a great 'deal'

Thanks for posting, had no idea, makes giving gifts easy.

Do that, if it gets heated, then you know it has been useful.

Regards

This has been available for ages now, so not really a "deal" IMO.

I live in Norway, and find that you only need to spend about £15 to get free delivery. Don't know whether its the same with other countries, but it obviously helps that it keeps it under the ~£20 import limit.

Try getting your basket to somewhere between £15 and £20, and see if it adds the super saver delivery option.

It's a deal from Amazon.co.uk - people based in the UK might actually want to send things from here to people abroad, so it's quite a useful thing to post and, frankly, doesn't deserve snarky replies.

Thanks, OP - Voted Hot.

If you live in Norway then there will be no import duty (Norway is not a European Union member state but is in the European Economic Area (EEA),

Play does free delivery only for books, CD's and DVD's, not for electronics items, clothing etc...
(unless they've changed their policy recently)

They still wont deliver my sit on lawn mower tho:(

Clothing is free as well on play.com (and has been for a long time)!

Been ordering like that for ages, the downside is it does take a while to get it, but very convenient with 1click ordering.

Thanks, didn't know this.

Many others are covered by other Amazon sites. For example Amazon.de delivers also for free to Austria.

I am very lucky here in Belgium:
Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de and Amazon.fr deliver for free (above a certain value)

Unfortunately not entirely true. It works if your credit card address is in the UK. Otherwise you are forced to buy in Euros (at a horrible exchange rate by the way) and only books, CDs/DVSs and clothing is then delivered outside the UK - electronics, gadgets etc. are not delivered at all outside, neither for free nor for a fee.

Even if I want to pay with my UK credit card, I am forced to go to Euros as the credit card address is not in the UK...

Not true unfortunately. Anything over the value of 200 NOK (which is roughly £20) will be taken in by customs and a nice big tax will be added on top. I don't know all the ins and outs of the EU/EEA situation, but as someone who imports a lot of entertainment (films/games/music) from the UK, and having been stung a couple of times, I definitely have to watch the value of my purchases.

Why the hell is this a deal!? It'd been like this for ages.

In other news the sun is still shining
