Paid 250 for the Asus 6 gig back in January, fantastic card but it's not new and this price doesn't reflect that
its not a bad price considering. the miners have pushed price through the roof especially with amd but has a knock on with other cards.
This is good price for a 6gb card based on current prices of other cards - we can't compare to old prices as prices have been pushed up by miners
Price hiked 3 months ago during the digital currency mining craze, craze has now died down. Expect the price to start falling very quickly in the next month.

Happend 2 years ago with bitcoin, expect to pick these cards up at very steep discounts on ebay as miners sell their rigs en-mass

There was no fire sale after the initial BC craze. "Just you wait and see", they said, but the cheap mining rigs never materialised.

There will be a readjustment, but no mass bargains.
Would it be wise to buy an ex-mining GPU ?

If a card works when mining 24/7, it's unlikely to stop working when only being used for a few hours a day for gaming.
Mining or not, I wouldn't spend over £100 on a 2nd hand GPU unless there is warranty left on it anyway though.

There's one huge difference this time round though.
With Bitcoin, it died out cause ASICs came and made GPUs way too inefficient. This time the cryptocurrencies being mined are ASIC resistant, so the market will not hard-crash like Bitcoin did, only soft-crash - e.g. mining slowly becoming less and less profitable.

Thats what I was questioning, people saying wait for the crash and pick a cheap one up on ebay
Suprising this got voted cold. The pre order price is now circa £298. Nearly £50 more.

Oh Ethereum prices are back on the rise to $300. Bad news for anyone wanting a Vega card.
