If, like me, you are a long-standing Prime customer paying full whack might be an idea to live chat them and complain? I'll be doing it later when back at home.

Ive stopped using prime, and i havent missed it at all!
Thought everyone here was on a student membership?
Damn. Loyal customers beaten with the same stick again. They might want to occasionally reward their loyal customers.

Thanks, I've just changed from £7.99 a month to £59 a year. Hope the year doesn't start until my month is over though

Yes I'm in the same boat but looks like the remainder of your month has been ignored. Well worth getting in contact in my case as I only paid £7.99 on the 8th!
They will refund any amount from your existing membership for the days left and then charge you £59. That's what it said on the page, let's see what I get as a refund.

found this in my payment settings so it looks like it doesn't start until your month runs out:

On 16 July 2019, you will be charged £59.00, and on 16 July 2020, you will be charged another £79.00

Payment HistoryLast payment: 16 June 2019

Worth having as long as the football is free.

My membership autorenewed less than 2 weeks ago, pretty sure I cancelled the autorenew previously.
I just had a chat with Amazon and they wouldn't give me the discount.
I couldn't find the offer on desktop, but it was there on the mobile app.
Paying the dreadful, tax-avoiding, high street destroying Amazon to use their services - no thanks!

I too hate what Amazon stand for, but you just can't beat next day delivery.
Cancelling mine I pay £ 8 a month and don't use it that much ,
This deal is a kick in the teeth , to their regulars .

TYPICAL !
There are still too many shops on British high streets.

But lowering everyones carbon footprint by not having millions of people driving to tbe high street every day. Yes it has to get delivered by a van but it would have been going to your area anyway.
Also you can use your twitch prime sub on Twitch. Just to add. Heat added
Arg i knew it would come to this day fk
Been paying annually for the past 2 years. Just been on chat but they wouldn’t give any discount. I always hear how good Amazon customer services is so I’m a bit d

For any existing Amazon Prime users.

Go to a live chat regarding your prime membership. Ask them to confirm the price is £59 using the link in this post. They will refund you £20 GBP.

I literally didn't even have to ask for them to do it, they just said they would do it themselves.

Thanks OP - Just got £20 back

I have to say, Amazon customer service is second to none to be honest.

Edit - Reworded.

I normally only activate monthly prime when I need to order a couple of things as it's cheaper than combined postage for next day delivery, but this is an excellent deal. Heat!

Mine renews in 2 days and I am getting nowhere with them. Never had a problem getting discount applied in previous years.

Thanks Op, just switched from monthly payment. Saved £36.88 over the year😁
They are saying I have to cancel my membership and take it out again! Ridiculous!

Wouldn't bank on it - mine was due on 13th July. She made me cancel and take out through the promo link - amazon.co.uk/ama…OMO

Can confirm, however that this does work.
Prime items are much more expensive than the normal free delivery, paying twice for delivery is what psses me off

Aren't customers paying monthly loyal as well? It's not like they buy it for a month and cancel later.

Don't believe the hype about Amazon killing the high street, yes they havent helped but the supermarkets, moving to out of town retail parks and charity shops not paying rates and paying top rents did the main damage.

Tesco tried to slam Amazon for not paying enough business rates the other week, thats like the pot calling the kettle when Tesco has been the main driver of damaging the high street even more than Amazon, including moving to out of town where rates were cheaper, killing off any retailer they could by selling everything under one roof, in the 80s they even opened a blacksmith in a country store, yep all Amazons fault.
The guy on my chat is not even ackowledging the offer even exists

On a number of occasions, same day delivery.
