Watch out here come everyone who will complain it isn't free or that is why they keep increasing the minimum order value for free normal delivery.

If so they'd get a tax refund for it . Err hang on a mo - can they get a tax refund when they don't pay any tax in the first place ?

That is totally awesome!

This is excellent news!!! Thanks OP

Used this in the states - so good and the app where you can follow the driver is an added bonus

Should put the price in the headline

Isn't this just an over inflated home essentials app for people who desperately need batteries or a bottle of Pepsi for £2 in the middle of the night?

I just saw this and thought amazing, as my workplace is in the available postcodes. However having a look, and the list of items available compared to their normal Amazon Prime items was not very impressive at all. Still a great service though, hopefully it will spread to the rest of London and UK, and the list of available items will get larger

Must be a lot of cockneys from select areas of London with Prime on HUKD

£20 worth of batteries and pepsi, since that's the minimum spend.

That is insane!

I thought they were going to use drones and parachute drops !

Order placed at 11:06, order delivered at 12:17. Flipping great.

I hope this falls flat on its face. Amazon make it so hard for competition. One day when they have taken over the world we will look back and think how did they become so dominant? Peoples expectations are far too high for this. Next day delivery should be as good as it gets, otherwise get off your bum and go to a shop.

Maybe part of the update of the Houses of Parliament will be an Amazon warehouse for the Londoners who need it there within the hour.

Remember when delivery terms were allow 28 days for delivery ! No one has patience anymore.

It isn't for the driver

You've got to laugh when their positive customer reviews contain silly comments like, "Ran out of sea salt and garbage bags. at my door 40 minutes later for free".
Yes but if you got up off your lazy **** and went to the shops you'd have those 'essential items' in about 10 minutes. Is there anywhere in London not within 5/10 minutes of a Tesco/Waitrose/Sainsburys? X)

Notice !!
you cannot use your gift card balance when using the APP to shopping

fair play that's a pretty awesome service.

That's your opinion/choice, and that's all it is, you're no more important then anyone else, however try dictating choice to other people and that's where you'll fall flat on your face and no one's going to care anyway.

FYI: They have agreed to pay corporation tax since May..anways they are likely to pay same meagre millions as tax as they don't make much profit, though they make sales in billions they operate at a very minimal profit margins mostly they have recorded loss,as their model is to create a lazy bum and then take money once the lazy bum can't stand any further

Ok, so if someone is in the middle of cooking dinner, has the oven on, 3 kids under 5 eating their own dinner. Then you realise you've no pasta for the dinner. Do you: -
A) Nip to the corner shop, leave the kids to their own device and let dinner continue to simmer on the hob
B) Order what you need from Amazon (pasta may not be available but for this illustration it does)
C) Turn all cooking appliance off, get the kids presentable, match down to the shop, find they are out of stock and then just go stuff it and order takeaway that will be delivered for free in under 2 hours.

I'd choose A). What do I win?

On a more serious note, the people complaining "oh it's lazy" there is logic behind it and shows we're finally moving on. For example, it helps people who are elderly and those who aren't able to move or get out of the house. You're not going to go up to them are you and say "Oh you're lazy" are you?

Just order to the address across the street and wait outside for the delivery guy/drone to arrive.

I would order a book from Amazon to be delivered in under 2 hours that goes through organising family meals
