Get ready for the show - Show Mode is a hands-free Alexa experience for your Fire HD 8 that provides full-screen landscape visuals that complement voice responses from Alexa. It lets you ask Alexa to see trending news, make calls, check the weather, view camera feeds, and more - all within easy glance whether you’re up close or on the other side of the room. You need to update the software on your tablet to version 6.3.0.1 for Show Mode to work correctly.

Alexa is hands-free on the Fire tablet - a voice-controlled personal assistant, Alexa responds to your questions and commands. She can check your calendar, get news, weather, traffic or sports updates, play songs, and even create shopping lists, as well as order you a takeaway or an Uber, or look up a recipe and read it out to you to follow! You can even connect your smart home - control lights, switches, thermostats and smart home technologies, when you pair it with compatible connected devices from Philips Hue, Hive, TP-Link, and more.

It's so easy - ready to use right out of the box, there's no software or computer required, or complicated set-up; just log in with an Amazon account, connect to Wi-Fi and you're ready to go.

Instant entertainment - enjoy millions of movies, TV shows, songs, Kindle eBooks, apps and games including Netflix, Facebook, Spotify and more. Say "Alexa, find The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel", "Alexa, show me my books" or "Alexa, launch Candy Crush Saga" to access the entertainment you love. Plus, Prime members get unlimited access to over a thousand books and magazines, millions of songs, and thousands of movies and TV episodes, at no additional cost.

Say hello! - use hands-free to call and send messages to your Alexa contacts or make video calls to family and friends with a compatible Fire tablet, Echo Spot, Echo Show or the Alexa App. So you can stay connected wherever you are.

Fast, clear, responsive - the proficient 1.3 GHz quad-core processor ensures quick app launch times, smooth games and videos, and great overall performance. Plus with the 8" screen and 1280 x 800 IPS display, you can enjoy crisp images, vivid colours and whiter whites, with a fantastic viewing experience even at wide angles.

Wouldn't bother I've got one and it's so laggy.

Fire 7 deals: Laggy - worth spending more on the HD8.

Had them with the docking stations for the same price last month.
Be aware there's a new HD8 on the way in the next couple of weeks but still a good price
Not a bad deal I dont think considering the vouchers for the cases and memory cards are included😁

Is this 2019 or 2020 version?

Our 2017 Fire HD8’s are still used most days for minecraft, YouTube etc by the kids (age 6 and 9). They are certainly no iPads but they are durable (I went for the book style cases not the kids ones, covers that cover the screen too when shut), the family settings etc are good, plenty of games run fine but obviously the selection is limited from Amazon.

Only issue we’ve had in 3 years is that Minecraft has to be stored on the tablet. If moved to the SD card worlds don’t save properly and it hangs.

I can’t compare it to anything that’s new in 2020 though!

Depends which 7 it is. If it's the latest one, then it shares the same CPU as the HD8 but with only 1GB RAM v 1.5GB in the Fire HD8.
i would prefer the new HD8 as it has slightly higher specs. If you can wait till July, i strongly suggest you do as it will likely go down to up-to half its RRP
It’s criminal Android tablets are being released with 1gb ram on a OS that’s resource hungry.
Ah 1.5gb ram. I'll pass. Thank you.
Anyone in the know suggest a good tablet for the same price as these Fire HD?
Or is the HD 8 and 10 pretty much the best you'll get for the money you pay?
They've just bought a new one out on on Amazon a new fire hd 8 and 8 plus
Bought last time great to watch movie or read books use FIVE4U to take off another £5
We've got a few of these. Decent battery life. Nice enough screen. Kids really like theirs. Mine is for ebooks, Audible and Disney+/Netflix and is spot on. Heat.

But they keep quiet about that. Glossing over lots of the important information about tech products or casually using ambiguous phrases that makes you the viewer draw your own conclusion.

All they seem to do is scroll the app icons up and down to indicate a device appears as responsive.

Their tech 'experts' need to find another job. Jokers? Yes! Overpaid? Yes! Experts? Most certainly not!
They shouldn't be allowed to sell tech products as the amount of misinformation they convey is almost fraudulent.

Most if not all of QVC's tech deals are useful only as an indicator of imminent price cuts elsewhere.

All ways reminds me of one presenter I once saw when pricedrop.Tv used to be on the go, they were selling a pool table, and the lovely blonde assistant with splendid chest assets was demonstrating by playing pool. And the presenters comment was "nice cue holder". Priceless

Throw the Amazon Fire Toolkit at them from XDA, they're decent little tablets especially considering what they cost. Just don't expect £300 performance from a £50 device

Just wait much better Kindle fire 8 coming soon with good upgraded specs. This one takes 6hrs to charge which is biggest practical problem for anyone

I just laugh when you see people expecting high end device quality. This is better than an unknown cheap Chinese brand with bigger community support. Great for young kids or someone needing a tablet to just browse online. I use them when at hobbies that can get messy if worst happens not going to cry over a scratch or damaging it. Charge time my only complaint.

No. This is simply a slightly (1 inch) bigger version. With a slightly better battery life.

It will be ok for child use, but I'd probably look at something else for better value for money. I have HD10 and it's so sluggish + hate the Amazon OS, even with Nova Launcher, it's annoying.

Thanks for your reply something else like?
Will be ready for the bin in a year or two. Yeah paying £300 for a tablet may seem expensive but these are just false value. Something costing £300 that’s going to last you 3 years vs these which are sluggish and slow the moment you buy them and barely useable in a years time with hardly any resale value.
