Who remembers the Amstrad video phone? It was either 15 years ahead of its time or people didn't want the function >

I dont get it, and I'm not saying that to start an argument. I have an Echo in the kitchen and a Dot in the bedroom. I'm pretty happy with both. I really don't see how this replaces/augments either though. The speakers arent good enough to replace an Echo. It's too expensive to replace an alarm clock. Widgets might be nice, but am I really just paying for those? Video calling - am I expected to lie in bed or kneel down by my bedside table to call people? How's this any better than using my phone? I really want to be convinced, someone please tell me what the excitement is about.

What a time to be alive to spot the "Echo Clock"
Literally just been looking at these, and they do look fantastic.

There is a deal there, though - if you purchase two dropping them to £99.99 each with code SPOT2PACK
No mention of youtube I see.....

Personally, it's not something I would buy myself but I'm sure it's a good deal for someone out there

It has a 2.5" screen, probably wouldn't be very good for youtube anyway.
Is kinda cute.
Good deal price wise so heat added, I think the Echo Show price will plummet, cant see it being a great success at the current price tag, but who am I. Will hold off.

I searched for echo spot, couldnt find anything but the search seems to be temperamental.

Binoculars are for seeing things that are far away, you must have a huge house.

Other than looking at the person you are talking to, all I can think of is using it as a clock/weather widget. Finding it hard to justify double the cost of a dot for that (although I won't buy another dot til they're £35 again either).
Is this a deal?? In that case what makes a deal a deal!

I don't own any echo's, this is the only one i liked the look of.

Applied heat on both

I really like it, and the reviews on Amazon.com suggest it's the best Echo device to date. I'd probably be looking to use something like this in the bedroom to replace the Dot I currently have in there for its clock features and such, but after reading the mentioned reviews it seems it's a perfect fit for any room.

Reviews suggest that the screen works surprisingly well on the device, despite its small size.

What's the speakers on them like?
What's the benefit of these over the show (which still doesn't support YouTube)

Will wait and hope for another code and promo snafu like Amazon did with the Show in November - the SHOW2PACK code took off £100 and still worked when the Echo Show was reduced to £130, so two for £160 (and CEX gave £100 for a Show at the time, so kept one for £60)

If not, no biggie. I already went from one Dot to one Dot, one Echo speaker and an Echo Show. I only have a two-bedroom flat and I am running out of rooms!

What a great time to be alive, for pervy hackers and shady government agents at least

Literally a botnet
So, let's wait till BF/Decemebr sales, hope for some offer like the Echo Show, discounted and then £40 off.
If that happens, I might bite.

Else, a Pi Zero with a small screen and Mycroft will do I think.
Always listening

Always watching

I'll wait for Prime Day. Only six months to go!

But as with all Amstrad products, way ahead of their time ...
Camera in the bedroom...

Fairly pointless, as my phone is always on my bedside table anyway.

If you _really_ want voice control, I'd just use an Echo Dot.

Yep - do people not realise this? Some friends in a security sensitive business have been told NOT to have these devices!
Think ill save the £120 by doing my usual routine. 1 - Use my watch alarm and look at it to tell the time. 2 - Look out the window to see the weather. 3 - Use my mobile to video call. 3 - Play my music through my bluetooth speaker.
Got to get them cameras and mics in every room of my house. Would hate for me to not have more targeted advertising
If you could block the camera I'd get it but apparently it has light sensors in that area so you can't even put a piece of tape over it.

These have been for sale in the US for a while, and I've been waiting for the UK release, but I'm not spending £130 on it. I' want it for an alarm and clock next to my bed. But I may aswell just but a Dot and a cheap analogy clock for 1/4 of the price.

Not a good selling price atall here from Amazon.its around £94 on the US site, and that's RRP and not deal price.
What another waste of money, im smart enough to read the time myself without yet another piece of smart crap havin to tell me. Get a life its only a bloody clock.
Once again. Shafted in the UK. $129 in the US. That’s, give or take, 25% cheaper. Less some US taxes.

Exactly - I really like the look of these but that is a deal-breaker, the design should really have included some kind of physical shutter so the camera could be easily covered if required. A pretty daft oversight by Amazon.
