The Ring Video Doorbell is the world's first battery-operated, Wi-Fi enabled, HD video doorbell. The device enables homeowners to see and speak with visitors from anywhere in the world by streaming live audio and video of a home's front doorstep directly to the free iOS or Android app. The doorbell's built-in motion sensors detect movement up to 9m and HD video recording stores all recorded footage to the cloud which can be accessed via the Ring app. The Ring Doorbell is quick and easy to set up as it mounts and syncs in minutes and has a built in battery, however, it can also be powered through your existing doorbell wires

This is just what I'm looking for and it's not too large either. But the link leads to a higher price of £159.00

Okay the quoted price is for a used one.

So I am lounging on the beach the other side of the world and this allows me to see who has rung my doorbell?
Actually I don't give a sh*t, totally useless invention.

Isn't there a £10 a month subscription fee for this?

I have to ask, why so many returns?

Are there any Amazon warehouse codes?

£2.50p per month if you want recordings backed up.....

That was patched ages ago plus you would have needed to have access to the setup button which is on the back of the device (and it is secured in place with security screws).

In fairness that article was over a year ago, an I am reliably informed that they have subsequently patched that vulnerability

I bought one once and returned it, picture quality and shape is nothing like what is shown on the TV advert and all the promo shots on their website. Because of the fish eye lens the actual video is circular with big black areas each size of the monitoring device so unless the 'perpetrator' is really close to the lens its really hard to see detail.

The unit is not waterproof by British standards either, its not IP rated and so needs to be under a porch. I wasn't impressed for the money so sent it back.

Alexa, ring my bell!

Oh I don't think so that you will get it cheaper. Thats a great price and it's a best video doorbell on market. I've tried few cheaper ones and at least this one gives you proper notifications and you don't have to answer to see who's outside.

If it's impossible to take off how have these been returned?

the security bit is included, they also need taking off to re-charge their battery

I have one, and I like it. I've hard wired a mains bell unit to it, which also charges the device so it's had a permanent installation. The hard wired bell takes care of the occasional lag in notifications. Picture quality is acceptable. You can also use the app to use the camera function and see out to your driveway. Cloud subscription is £5/month. I am out frequently and get a lot of parcel deliveries, so just tell the courier to leave the parcel somewhere safe, and can observe them doing so. Overall, a good device, in the 12 months or so that I've had it, with no issues whatsoever. Also mine is not under a covered porch, but have not had any issues with rain.

It's £2.5 a month or £25 per year. Why are you paying £5?

Sorry, you're right - it is 2.50; the £5 is for another one of my systems, I got mixed up...
