Does this require power, memory card and a wifi connect to work? Nothing …Does this require power, memory card and a wifi connect to work? Nothing else

Its power by usb
You can buy external USB sockets
I plan on spurring off my security light wiring, connecting the 240v USB socket to that wiring and will house it in a external junction box. The Usb wire from the camera will connect to to the usb socket in the junction box (see pic for where I plan to house it)
Otherwise you need to run the cable inside and plug in to a normal plug socket.
The camera needs to be able to connect to WiFi.
The camera will need the app to run but can view the footage stored on the memory card in the camera

Great find! And UK shipped from the official store too!

Can't recommend these enough to be honest, really pleased with how they work and run with the app - I'm sure some people will say they're no good and you want something else offering some obscure feature but for ease of use, quality and everything else, this seems like a no-brainer to me. I have a couple of these at each property and have that little extra peace of mind with them around.

Believe records for 4 days
You can watch live, take pics and record to handset live if something's going on
I have this and it works flawlessly. 64gb SD cared is fine.

Only issues are:

. You need to drill a whole to fit USB connector through.

. USB cable is exposed so can be cut if reachable.

Well, you could snip the connector off the end (which makes it very small) and terminal block it in a junction box as it's only USB power not data (so there's no risk of cross-talk or corruption). As to cutting the cable, what other option is there realistically, the cable has to come out somewhere - or did you mean a flush wall mount?
Does it actually need WiFi to work or only for the setup?

I like this. How does this wire in?
Does this work as a IP camera via a NAS storage, for example synology. Record directly to that storage continuously?
Does anyone have the box and could tell me the amp rating please?
Normal cabling
If have a security light with outside junction box you would use a terminal block and use the extra cables to wire the usb port

You need on WiFi for it to work
Seems odd to have a memory card. You'd need to mount it high enough that some one couldn't reach and steal the card but that also makes it a pain for you to get the card from. Cloud storage is the only practical thing I feel for an IP camera. Even NAS storage is at risk of being stolen.
Wonder if this could send the recordings to Dropbox or Google Drive.
Really want to get this but need around 4 or 5 cameras. Anyone got any ideas for multiple cameras? I don't mind putting them up and the wiring etc isn't an issue. I've looked on ipcamtalk.com but it seems a bit of a minefield.

You can view the footage on the application on your phone
Thank you for posting - I hate to admit that much of this is jargon to me, however it seems like a very good deal and I need one, ordered.

Ah I see, so you can access the memory card using the app. That makes sense. so then I guess just install as out of reach as possible.

Get hikvision
I have 5 of these.
Fantastic cameras.
Get an external junction box for the cables and you are good to go.
I'm not a techie but manage fine with them.
Just get it bought.

I got a florex 4 cam 8 channel 1tb DVR for £77 from Maplin. May be worth calling around...
Anyone know the length of power cable?
Will these record to a NAS on your home network
Does anyone know if all the video traffic is routed through China, or are the servers in the US/Europe? The only thing putting me off these cheaper IP cameras is where the video data ends up..

Thinking about just sticking with Nest stuff as there seem to be better data policies.

will the usb 240 socket be loose in the junction box?
do you mind sharing the final wiring pics..

I have the YI indoor camera that was posted on here about 2 weeks ago - very pleased with it, if that is anything to go by I'm sure this will be a great camera.

Does anybody know of anything similar to this outdoor camera that will also show the live video on an Amazon Show or Amazon Spot ? and of course a similar price range thanks
I bought at £80 3 months ago, put in a 64gb card and it's facing down on my driveway .. very happy with the picture quality and it records around 4-5 days on the SD card before overwriting it but you can change to only record when it detects anything in front of it.... tempted to buy a second one.

This is useful, thanks! I bought two of these at £80 each a few months back but never got a chance to install because of the wiring. This USB module is the type of thing I was looking for. I was even considering hacking a regular charger and wire it to the mains...this looks safer! I plan to spur it from my front-door light. Need to figure out where to run the cable from for the back...oh well.

how are these with connecting to Wifi?

It's really simple but it only connects to 2G for your wifi signal. It's all done via their app and was very simple.
Thanks OP, ordered 2. What's the max SD card size it will take?
Highly recommend YI cameras, the app is stable, easy to install and pretty good all round! The packaging is a complete rip off apple haha but very pleased, so much so I have 2 cameras!
