Can I put it in garage? (I know some don’t work outside?)

How would the freezer know if it was in your kitchen or garage?

Garages are a lot colder . Which has an issue with the thermostat controlling the tempature

Unless the electricity goes off and defrosts everything!
Cold from me, I won't pay more than £1/litre for freezers.
its got a "Manual defrost function" unplug it
Anyone recommend a chest freezer that can be used in a garage?!

You'll struggle to find one that doesn't reccomend advise against it as manufacturers want to cover themselvs
Same with most white goods.

What an odd thing to say, you're extremely unlikely to get a small chest freezer or any other kind of small freezer for less than £1/L

I've just started looking for a chest freezer for our shed, we have had one there for a few years with no issue but it's needing replaced before it fails, found this

I ordered this for the same price, delivered, from Marks Electrical. It's in our outside garage and very nice and quiet, cheap to run and can fit a fair amount in it. I can't comment on the reliability or longevity of it however unfortunately, but I'm happy with it.

Seems like a good value freezer.
Freezing capacity is quite low with no fast freeze. But you can use the freezer compartment in your fridge for freezing fresh foods.
My choice went to under counter freezer for ease of access.
But chest freezers have better capacity for size.
You would not regret spending some more and having a frost free model. I speak from experience with a slightly larger capacity one - you never seem to get it empty enough to decant out to manually defrost it.

When we moved I bought another, frost free, one and now I can just load it up and forget about it.
Ive got one of these freezers made by Bush...bought it in 2010 for £100 from argos and its still working fine.

Hmmm. Gonna give this a go in the conservatory and hope it’s okay.
Great for stockpiling your protein ready for Brexit.
You couldn't fit my wife's chest in that freezer.

Hot deal neverthless as she doesn't really like the cold...

Beko makes refrigeration appliances that work down to -15 degrees ambient. There used to be some Hotpoint models that are garage safe, but I don't think they're available on the market anymore.

I thought it was because the type of refrigerant used in most freezers makes them less effective if used in an unheated building.
The thermostat issue is only a problem for fridge freezers, as the fridge temperature stays low with the ambient temp anyway so the thermostat doesn't turn on at all meaning that the freezer temp can be above freezing and food can slowly defrost. If frozen food isn't kept well below freezing it doesn't last well and can be dangerous, which is presumably why many manufacturers don't guarantee it.
Thanks for posting @PennyTrader we have added this to the Highlights section

Probably by the temperature, silly.

Huh? The UK has the 5th largest economy in the world - Fact.
You're pointing out the richest countries, which is interesting because 8 countries out of the top 10 richest in the list you sent are NOT in the EU.

I was told by an appliance repair guy that you should have an electric radiator in the garage near the freezer. Have it on an app-controlled plug and switch it on now and again when the temp drops below 10 degrees just to make sure the thermostat kicks in to keep it frozen.

If you are worried there's an easy test to do to check if it's keeping frozen. Half fill a bottle with water. Freeze it stood up, then lay it down in the freezer. If you see it the ice has moved, you know it's not keeping temperature and your food might not be safe to eat anymore.

Both good ideas but I think I’ll just go for one of the ones that work down to -15c.
I've got a Whirlpool from the late 90s. It's old and dated but reliable, so I'm too frightened to replace with one with a 3 year life span.

If it's not broken don't fix it and keep it

No problem
