Single hose air con units create a vacuum which draws warm air back into the room. CampGareth is right it takes cool air in the room, heats it up and dumps it outside at the same time as cooling it down

Dual hose units / window units / wall mounted split systems are far better, but dual hose systems are impossible to get in this country

Is this a single hose or dual hose unit? I'm looking for a dual hose one specifically (doesn't pump inside air outside, drawing in more hot air from outside in the process).
I wish I got this one . The screwfix blyss sounds like a airplane when it’s going
Thanx
A bit cheaper than elsewhere, but pretty unnecessary in this country in most circumstances.

Is there such a thing?

They take air from inside, cool it and blow it inside whilst expelling the heat generated outside. I see no other way for it to work.

The single hose ones also take cooled air from inside, heat it up and blow it out the window to get rid of the heat generated. A loss of cooled air and waste of electricity.

Dual hose units exist eg amazon.co.uk/Ava…WUG, but they seem to be hard to come by in the UK.

I suppose if you can find a single hose unit with a separate air intake for the condenser, you could duct tape your own external intake hose duct together

I've got a few aircon units, they all have filters at the back or sides of the aircon where it takes air in. recycling air from inside the room presumably cools it faster because its cooling air it previously cooled. The one you've linked to also appears to have a filter on the back - I could be wrong.

Everything that goes out the single hose is hot air.

I would imagine the main reason for the single hose design is they can use a single impeller and split the intake air between both sides of the heat pump, making a cheaper, more compact unit, at the cost of efficiency.

This explains it better:- uk.trotec.com/pro…ro/

Only 7000BTU Only good for small rooms. Better spend something on 12000 BTU if you want good uni
This is fine for small spaces. I paid £110 for a used one, but it was in new condition as it was only used for a month last year.

This has worked well over the past few weeks to keep a room that gets a lot of sun cool.
Ineffecient and expensive to run when you need it (compared to twin vent design) bulky and ugly for the rest (most) of the time.
Sweet, sweet saviour! My moist loins thank you OP!
