One of those companies, that if your order goes through with no problems you get a real bargain but if it goes wrong, things can get messy.

A bit like my experience with PC World, I bought a monitor which had several dead pixels and it was a bloody nightmare trying to sort it out. Certainly won't be using PC World ever again.

That sounds like the WHOLE DSG Company.

Looks like a good deal but the majority of reviews that i've read about this company are really bad

My experience exactly. Something gets lost in transit and you have to wait whilst they sort it out! 4 weeks to get my money back! WTF. Just hope Quidco goes through....

When things go right, few people speak up - when they go wrong, you can't shut them up...;)

Cube 247 are a horrible company to deal with, I had to return my pc 7 times in the first year do to a faulty motherboard (at my own expense) which they reluctantly changed.....for a lower model !

They replaced my faulty hard drive with again a lower refurbished model. After it broke for the third time in its third month I requested a refund and they laughed it off.

I wouldn't give these cowboys a penny of my money.

p.s dont believe the "ratings" they are well known for adding their own.

Low power Quad Core.
Very bad Motherboard
Cheap power supply, they even did not write the wattage
Very very bad Graphic Card
Generic bad Tower Case
Ultra Fast(yeeeah) Samsung DVDRW
No operating system
No detailed info about nothing

Stay far away from this...

It is an ok spec, but the parts are very cheap and is not worth the price.
I also would not trust the site with my money would you?

thanks m8, my son is looking for one and was drawn to this , any of you specialists now a good company to get from he lookin for a half decent gaming one but has saved only £400

thanks singer

to be honest, I've just bought this for my bro.
Service was v good - email updates about progress. Spec is good enough.

Can't comment on the aftersales - nothing has gone wrong with machine yet (touch wood).

For your budget you get buy a Dell Inspiron from the Outlet and then spend the spare cash on a mid range card - for example you can currently buy this for £268 delivered:

Inspiron 560 MT Base
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5800 (3.10GHz)
Memory 4096MB (4x1024) 800MHz Dual Channel ECC
500 GB Hard Drive
MOD,DVD+/-RW,16X,HH,INSP,SNO

and a GTS 250 for £50:

amazon.co.uk/XFX…8-1

This card comes with a power supply adapter so you don't need a 6-pin PCIe connector. I'm not sure what PSU this Inspiron comes with so you might need to budget another £50 for a quality 450W+ PSU.

The hard disc is stated as premium and when you click on it, the pics show 6 decent enough brands.

A Samsung dvd writer isn't too shabby.

GeForce 7025 graphics card supports shader 3.0 but won't run any of the latest games at a decent speed.

All in all a very good price, slight worries regarding the PSU, would be a bonus if it is a genuine Antec 'True Power' PSU.

If this was £300+, I'd probably agree.

and would that play the latest games u think brookheather ? im not tech ie so addin anythin is hard for me or him

My present PC is from Cube247 and I have found them to be a good company to deal with. The guys on the phone seem to know what they are talking about and are really helpful.
My only gripe would be that when I had to return my PC for repair it cost me £20+ via parcelforce. It was, however, repaired and returned quickly.
I would have no hesitation in buying from them again. Seems a good deal for very little money. Heat added

If this AMD Quad Core PC comes with a 400 watt PSU, you could buy this and chuck in a HD 5670 graphics card and you're looking a a pretty decent gaming machine for under £280.

Estimated prices of the components

CPU - 60
RAM - 60
HDD - 40
Mobo - 30
DVD - ? 20
Case/PSU - ? 30
GPU - ? 25

Every price apart from the last 3 are accurate.

So a total of £265 for the components. good price, but you can get better components for about the same money.

WOW the upgrade options are ridiculously priced... £150 for a HD 5770 lol.
Edited by: "sunil237" 11th May 2011

No mention of the PSU rating, so you may end up sticking a decent graphics card in and have to upgrade that as well.

Does any one know the best makes of psu ? My ocz 600 w has just gone and took. My board with it,just out of warranty, seems a common occurance after 3 years use, cost about £70 so not happy as i thought ocz were ok....

You won't be doing much gaming with an HD 5450 - this card is pretty much the bottom end.
Edited by: "brookheather" 11th May 2011

It's looks like a very good component configuration for a price. 7050 is on-board video card and will not be able to do any gaming at all.
Case is not really important.
Power Supply is unknown, which is a big minus.
Negative reviews for retailer are not good either.

They could be trying to get rid of old stock or worse getting rid of faulty/returned systems.

i see brook thats just what i was saying i dont know much about them im not techie so i look for help and pointers to it i think it would need hd as son has hd tv

Low power Quad Core.

It used to be a premium model... but times have changed.

I think the lack of gigabit ethernet is the biggest issue - and the big question mark at the power supply. If you want cheap, this is it, but I wouldn't touch it. For 50 pounds more you can get a decent system and piece of mind.

You assume good components, which is probably wrong. The GPU is built in, the DVD is worth 13 pounds max, the HD can be had for just over 30, and I would not be surprised if the case and the PSU are on the level of a 15 pound bundle. So I don't think this is cheaper than the components.

This would be a good build. Add ~£15 for a DVD Drive. I know you don't like the idea of custom building, but trust me, it's easy and sooo much better value for money. Do you have any techy friends that would do it?

A good balanced choice of components but you will certainly need the DVD drive (unless you already have a USB DVD drive perhaps?) - one missing item though is the OS - assuming you want to install Windows 7 then it will be around £40 to buy one of the student deals which is often posted here.

On the face of it, this is certainly a decent spec. Stick a 5670 in it (which needs no extra power connector from the psu) for 50 an you have a very very capable machine.

However, I'd be really wary of giving these guys any if my hard earned. The only positive reviews out there seem quite blatantly from the company itself.

I think 400 pounds is a perfectly reasonable budget for a mid range machine. You would get either an Intel i3 2000 dual core or an AMD quad core like the X4 645 here, 4 GB of RAM, a mid range graphics card (the HD 5670 fits the bill perfectly, or maybe the HD 5770). That gives you a perfectly capable PC - not the fastest there is, but certainly ok for most games at reasonable settings.
