Yep, good deal.
Bought my system in November for £449 in November, knew the price would fall, but couldn't wait (still got a decent deal though)

hmmm this or an i7-950

Good deal

Good price. Would rather have an i5 2500 for same money though, will perform better in most scenarios.

Only advantage of this is it can go in older motherboards and it will be better if you use lots of applications that utilise 6 cores. There's not many out there that do though.

Chipset problem with Sandybridge has now been fixed so that's no longer an issue.

I think this depends whether you already have an AMD setup which you can go hex cores for cheap, or whether you want the whole hog and upgrade everything to go Intel.

I've always been a value for money kind of person (hence I'm always on this site :p), and I have stuck to AMD for as long as I can remember. The upgrade path is easy and cost pennies in comparison to Intel (who just cannot stop changing their pins socket). Don't get me wrong, Intel is very good with their technology, but whether its worth the amount of money to get a complete new setup.

I may sound a bit of a hyprocrite, I have recently upgraded my server to an i7-860, purely for the Vt-d & Vt-e features to run the virtualisation and for the lower power consumption, otherwise, I would have stuck to my AMD and stuck a hex cores in..nice and cheap, no re-installation headache. BTW, Hyper-V sucks BIG time from my experience so far :(.

Oh! Hot btw for a good price and decent hex core
