Nice price for a solid CPU from what I hear.

On a more unrelated note. Last year I was debating this or an Intel 4670k as an upgrade to an FX6100. As I've never had an Intel machine I did decide to go for the Intel build but pretty much everyone I spoke to, in terms of CPU upgrade, recommended the FX6300

Depends on what you want to do. Fact is that intel i5 chips are much faster in all work loads and comparable with the FX8xxx 8 core version in heavily threaded work loads.

That being said you get what you pay for, the AMD chip is cheap for a reason. It can do everything the Intel chip can, it just takes a bit longer.

Solid choice for a budget build, but if you want the best then it must be intel for now.

Bought this a year ago for the same price on ebuyer

They do seem to be holding there value. The best cpu for the money and a great overclocker for those interested in messing around with clocks and multiplier's

The fx6300 would not have been worth an update at all. Intel was the best upgrade option tbh

For £74, less than half the price of an i5 4670k, this is an absolute BEAST OF A PROCESSOR. For a budget build, this is THE way to go, not much performance loss compared to i5 and great over clocking, stick this in a cheap 970 board (m5a97 r2.0 for example) and that's only £120, still less than the i5. stop comparing this to much higher priced CPU's people!

Nice to see a legit review without the usual fanboy-ism. I myself have gone with AMD (FX 8350) as I wanted high end budget if that makes any sense! I love the grunt of it but in all honesty the next upgrade will more than likely be Intel unless something game changing comes out of AMD

Used Flubit on Saturday for this and got it for £66.12. Only downside is that the few other parts I ordered are coming Monday as I ordered them with Amazon Prime where-as this is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday.

Looks good, any recommendations for motherboards
