I imagine this will get icy but I hope of use for someone. VR Ready CPU from AMD, 8 cores and Free Total War Warhammer worth £30+

Yes not as fast as Intel, but a good deal for this CPU with game.

A good price but go with an overclocked 6 core for gaming so you can get each core going faster for the same VCore
like 6300 black edition ??
Oc on the fx-8350 is also quite good and easy to do. But 8 cores won't give as high single core performance on top oc's
good deal for a cpu + room heater combo.

This is 'only' 125W TDP which is less than a lot of similar era i7 processors.
It's more the FX-9xxx series that have obscene TDPs

Well any FX has unlocked multiplier as far as I'm aware! Mine's still only half used playing DOOM at 1920x1080 res while at 4.5GHz so I'm suggesting you save your money and buy something with less cores
Damn these are still not going down in price as fast as I thought. I just upgraded to an i7 and have an 8350 & 8120 just lying around with a few motherboards as I thought there wasnt too much interest considering AM3+ is effectively EOL. Suppose i should dig them up and make an ad.

Awesome processor and the only reason I had to upgrade was getting a great deal along with an itchy upgrade finger. Handled everything I threw at it.....which I couldnt say the same for the crossfire i was running

a second hand 4 cores phenom for around £25 would perform the same in games if not even better. Get an intel if you want something decent for games even a 2 cores

tbh my phenom ii x4 965 was also 125 tdp about a decade ago and it ran really hot. I only had a stock cooler on it and cleaned it regularly but it was hot enough to heat my room whilst gaming. Whilst im not an intel fan boy, i really hate the amount of heat generated by amd cpu/gpus.

my 280x which i bought a few years back runs at about 85 degrees at 1080p running overwatch in "high" difficulty.

never amd again.
I would recommend this cooler for temps 29-40C and almost silent on 125W AMD CPU's.

Its a little on the large side however, so an AIO watercooler would be an obvious option. The CPUs are generally OK but my RX480 does run hot (80C) when gaming!
I bought this CPU a few years back for around this price. It's very weak on ipc but good for tasks such as handbrake. I wouldn't recommend this because you can pick up a nice i5 for this price and a decent am3+ board is a ripoff compared to a intel based board.

Jesus, I got this CPU for £80 2 years ago. They just haven't lost their value at all. I've since sold it and switched to Intel but it did do the job rather well whilst I had it except cooling it can be a real nightmare.
